I love Ledlum’s hustle and offensive rebounding, but he’s simultaneously too short and too slow. I don’t know to what extent his injuries factored in, but he was a bad mismatch for us when he switched onto a perimeter player.

Good teams went after that a lot. That’s not an issue with Scott.

If we are in a rock fight or playing a team with a strong combo forward, maybe you go more Ledlum in those spots. For everything else it’s Scott. And I really want Ledlum back too.

I think we are sleeping on Scott.
I really think unless Ledlum adds more speed, he would be in every team's game plan. It would be a relentless picking on -- especially with Zuby as the anchor down low who can be prone to fouling.

Even if plays the way he did last year?
No... if he's the freshman version of himself... obviously not.

He averaged 12 last season... im counting on natural progression and improvement one typically sees freshman-> sophmore yr... foresee atleast a 3min increase per game

When I was a freshman or Sophomore in college, ST John’s played Gtown on either CBS or ESPN. Gtown had Mutombo and Mourning. Now some of the facts are hazy because I was probably drunk but Gtown set the BE record for blocks in a game. I don’t know exact number but I think it was 75.
It was on Big Monday during the '88-'89 season. Sealy, Werdann, and Buchanan (as well as Mourning) were freshmen.

Exactly why I kept saying we needed to grab another guy that is at least 6'9
Many of the earlier posts focused on the Player’s height and how frequently there is embellishment to the high side. 6’7” becomes 6’8 etc .

I think for BB Players , their weight is just as important as height , A heavy player might not be able to elevate that 1 more inch or so on
Shots , if he’s 5 or more pounds over his general weight spectrum .
Recall that Pitino wanted a fair amount of weight off Soriano last summer in order to improve his stamina , quickness and jumping ability .

At the beginning of the Season , I thought wow , Soriano has lost a lot of weight and looked more chiseled . But , to me he looked like he out a lot of that weight back on as the season progressed and he didn’t play as well the 2nd half of the season .

I’m also surprised how quickly many posters have thrown many of our returning Players over the side and concocted line ups of Richmond , Smith , Scott , Luis and Zuby and so easily tossed Wilcher and Dunlap over the side .,

Wilcher , especially isn’t going to be happy playing back up to Richmond and Smith and why should he be ?
He was Recruited off the NC roster last summer and came here with high expectations . RP told him he was going to make him a PG and that would take time . Thus, he got the least amount of PT all season of the top 10 players .
If RP is going to renege on his promise to Sim and his parents that he will be a Starter this year , he should give Wilcher.a chance now to go elsewhere .
The kid is too talented to be a cog in the wheel or , 3 rd man out in the line up.
But , it is more likely a case of posters here predicting our line up rather than Rick himself .
My own prediction is that our early season lineup is Zuby , Luis , Richmond , Smith and Wilcher .

We will see once November starts .

I hope so but Pitino learned that last year after proclaiming that his teams always struggled in his first year on a new job? Certainly being a bit cynical here but he didn’t stop and think about why that was before last year?
The big issue to me is where is the locker room leadership when there is little continuity of experience from last year? That’s why I think Ludlum returning would be a huge factor.
Yeah, I agree. His comments were more about having almost an entirely new team and under estimating how long it would take for them to learn his system and to learn how to play effectively together. Not sure he’s dealt with that before last season, but he also contributed somewhat to the heavy roster turnover (some forced by the administration and some of his own doing).

With all that said, I like Ledlum and agree with you that he’d be much better this coming year since he knows the system and what’s expected, and is presumably a lot healthier than he was last year.

Knowing that Rutgers' NIL situation is not very good, I would be very surprised to see Watkins end up there
I do know that Rutgers NIL is “fluid” if you will on a case by case basis. Schiano did not keep virtually all his returning players plus convincing some 5th year eligible to return with an insignificant NIL available.

Scott is definitely ahead of Ledlum if Ledlum were to return. He was brought in specifically to address the switching versatility we had at the 4 last year.

Scott is huge for this team because he doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective and he spaces the floor for those that do.

Would love 15 mins from Ledlum.
Ledlum is not coming back to play 15 minutes a game I promise you that.

Depends on who else they add to the roster. Wilcher is likely coming off the bench regardless. As long as he logs more minutes than last year (9.1) I don’t see what the problem is. He was a fringe rotation player last year that doesn’t guarantee him a starting spot. How it’s currently constructed he’ll see big minutes his JR year if he develops.
