If Ledlum returns, you can add him to Luis, Zuby, Wilcher, Dunlap as guys who already know the system. There still is something positive about continuity.

No to mention, Ledlum is a selfless leader and should he return, will be coming in already understanding his role.

Sure, things are not exactly the same, but long ago in the dinosaur era, college teams were built this way.
This is a fallacy…Human beings were not in existence while dinosaurs 🦖 roamed the earth.

Having 12 guys who should conceivably get time is never a good issue. It is a disaster waiting to happen. Would just rather have Watkins.
I would say you wouldn’t have 12 guys who should get minutes. You’d have tougher choices to make but that’s what having a talented roster comes with.

No dingle or ledlum - 8/9 guys playing in rotation, plenty of minutes to keep them happy. Vince & Glover are your 8/9.

Ledlum and Dingle - 9/10 guys playing in rotation, better talent. 1-2 guys don’t get the minutes they would have gotten before but our team is better off for it. Vince and Glover are now you 10/11. If that ruins it for 10-13 those are the punches you roll with IMO.

Except early on last year Rick tried giving 12 guys minutes and it never works.
Btw would rather have Dingle back instead of Ledlum.

Get Watkins and Dingle and now we are talking.

let’s remember that we couldn’t play at Pitino’s ideal pace last year bc we were slow. This year we should be quicker and play 9-10 guys regularly. I think Ledlums value is more than what you see on TV. I’d take him any day of the week.

We prob had him at 65-70% after the injury.

If you can get Watkins, you take Watkins and figure it out. He’s way too talented.

All of our new guys play defense and are athletic so I don’t think the growing pains will be too bad. And Smith seems happy to set the table.

Smith-Richmond-Watkins-Scott-Luis would be the most fun lineup we’ve had since Artest was playing PF for us. You don’t lose much with Zuby in there at center either for the traditionalists.

Full disclosure, saw him play about 5 times in HS and though SI is the forgotten basketball borough there have been some good players just not a lot have been able to make a decent impact in a power conference let alone come close to making the pros.

Ledlum was different in that he was not only a good player but seemed to have the athleticism to at least hang with much better comp.

Just based off the eye test he seemed to be playing at a much greater weight than in HS. Not saying he was fat, he certainly didn’t look fat but def much heavier. More worrisome is he sermed like a guy in his early 30’s that is in good shape but just lost the athleticism he had in his 20’s. The problem of course is he is in his 20’s.

Heard the kid is a real good kid and played hard but would simply prefer a bigger and more athletic 4 man in this day and age of Free Agent college basketball.

So Watkins and Dingle wouldn’t be too many guys?? 😂

No because would clearly be better than what we have. If Rick still tries to play more guys that would be on him.

Zuby, Watkins, Luis, Richmond, Smith
USC kid, Dingle, Wilcher and Scott
Those 9 and only those 9 should play with USC kid just getting some backup Center mins

Sid and Marty Krofft would like a word with you.

Not if he tries to give Dunlap and or Glover the Conway treatment. That was not fair to Conway and messed up the flow of every game he tried to put him in at odd times.
Yes but that is better than having to rely on Conway for 20 minutes a a game which is the other end of the scenario.

Assuming we add one more meaningful player, I don't see any way that 10 or 11 guys aren't going to see PT most games. No way Dunlap or Glover are going to be DNP guys in too many games imho. Alabama made it to championship game playing 10 guys about 8 or more minutes per game.

Dingle works no matter what, but we can't take on Ledlum and another wing/forward. Agree.
We can’t take them and keep everyone happy. We could definitely be a better team though. This is all hypothetical and I doubt pitino is going to add 3 more. But those 3 guys immediately jump into our top 7. We have spent way too long worrying about sneaking into the tournament to avoid talent at the risk of not being able to play everyone.

I'm not sure Ledlum does.

For arguments sake, let's just say the waiver is ordered by the courts. Dingle signs. Watkins follows.

Our top six is definitely: Kadary, Watkins, Luis, Smith, Dingle, Zuby.

I'm not entirely convinced I'd rather have Ledlum than Scott in the rotation at that point. He's a better shooter, more athletic, and a much better athlete/potential on defense. I think Ledlum would get picked on with pick & rolls on a lot of possessions, and I'm not exactly sure he's the spacer we'd want on the court compared to Scott. Or even Wilcher/Dunlap.

I do thing the happiness thing is a little overblown, and we should definitely want a competitive atmosphere with a lot of talent. But there does come a point of diminishing returns.
