SJU Portal Targets

But as with other successful programs like Duke, Tennessee North Carolina etc. as kids have successful seasons they will look to parlay it into a money making opportunity and bolt at the end of the season. It didn’t happen to the Johnnies this year cause there were not any holdovers except for one, that other teams were willing to bid for. But I would bet that if we have a successful season next season, and whoever the stars are, be it Wilcher, Dunlap etc. those kids will be testing the portal market.
But we won that one bidding war, right? And the rumor was that Kansas was one of those schools. Our NIL is good enough to retain our guys each year. If it isn't, it may mean we had a tremendous year and our NIL budget grows.

You sure you got this right? I think we pay income taxes on a graduated scale with people making $1MM paying 6.85% on the amount of income over $215k. I don't think Texas has an income tax so maybe the savings will work out the same in the end. There may still be benefits of playing in the NY area over Waco that could outweigh saving the $50k in additional taxes.
I have no idea what Roach actually got. Personally if I was offered 1.5 or 1.4 I’m not making the decision on the dollar difference but that’s me.

We need Donovan Mitchell to come to the Knicks and stipulate that Dolan has to fund the Pitino NIL with his band's profits. That'll add a good 629 bucks to the coffers.

I erred . Texas has No Income tax . NY does .

Evans dropped 25 on Gonzaga, 23 Northwestern, 20 Georgetown and Missouri, 18 Memphis, 33 LMU. 6th year in college, the veteran scorer that we sorely need. Could be another upgrade for us on the perimeter, Scott > Taylor; Evans > Dingle
I’ll hold off calling him an upgrade from Dingle until I see him play. Dingle was the second leading scorer in the nation and had some great numbers against Nova as I recall.

Evans having a 60% EFG on catch & shoot is just beautiful to see.
That is a positive. And can pass a bit which I like.

But that 2pt % for a guy with good size in that league who can obviously play a bit, seems almost impossibly low. .387 career TWO point shooter. The last time we had a rotation player shoot that poorly from 2 was Mustapha Herons last season. Wusu, who got comically ridiculed over and over about his in ability to finish, has a career 2pt% of 47%.

Not saying don’t take him. Just a tough stat to grasp.

That may be true for you but , not the Player . Just saying .
People aren’t flocking to NY to pay more Taxes . People are moving to Texas to pay less taxes .

Of course , they’re more are pros/ Cons to living in NY or Texas but , Taxes are clearly are clearly on the Con column for NY .

Texas has no income taxes . NY does , as you no doubt know well .

Of course ,,Texas does have Sales Tax , Property Tax , etc as does NY . NY is much higher .

Biggest "issue" here is the potential enormous talent jump in level of competition. He was in that "Jordan Dingle at UPenn" role for Jackson State, did all the heavy lifting scoring wise. Johnnies have a big need in scoring right now and at 2 guard...we'll see.

But we've seen a lot of teams have success with adding guys like this...(Xavier) sure SWAC is a horrific league (I believe literally dead last conference), but he's a kid who seemingly doesn't lack confidence and I'll take 39% from three on over 5 attempts a game from anyone in the world.

Jackson St's NET Rating was 300 last year. Still amazing DePaul was 20 spots below them.

Yes we need to fill scoring and am not going to kill the staff for taking a conference POY who scores and shoots at a high rate.

But Dingle was able to make 53% of his 2 point shots at Penn. I’m just pointing out that 39% from 2 is HARD to do. Especially for a good player. And McKnight or Olivari never shot in the 30s.

Btw Conway was 38% on 5.7 attempts from 3 before coming here.
