If you are foreign student attending school in the US, you are here on a student visa which prohibits a player from accepting NIL (and has limitations on making money for working period).

You can make money on merchandising or other deals in your home country which is how collectives are helping out such players.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I rather build the team with guys that were top 100/150 out of HS, that come from well coached programs and didn’t get much playing time and go recruit those kids. Like we did with Zuby this year.

There probably is less shenanigans regarding $$$ and the kid probably has a chip on his shoulder with something to prove. Find the undervalued guys.

I rather coach a top 50 HS kid up with little playing time, than pay 1mil for a kid who averaged 20ppg at mid major level. That’s just me thinking resourceful $$$ and creatively against the norm. Seems like everyone’s jockeying for the big fish (and of course 1 or 2 are great)

I suspect what fan may be referencing is performance in NCAA & PAC12 tournament games. See ESPN Game Log for six games he played in those tournaments for Arizona in 2022-23 & 2021-22. It's only 6 games so could just be a coincidence.
