SJU Portal Targets

Yup, forget what the rest of the team did, he was by far the bright spot in that team. And as Pitino quoted,”one of the best guards we are likely to see all year” among other Pitino superlatives.
McDaniels was suspended and seemed to be a real off the court problem. Not ticky tack stuff. Talented kid though.

As for Cliff yes i said he was done. He was. I can nor will say anymore that anything is done. Ever. Had a kid commit yesterday and last sec new coach comes in and doubles offer. Cliff had an offer he was accepting here. He now has higher offers. This will continue to happen. Where he ends up no idea..SJ still very much in play. Apologies for misinformation...lesson learned
Keeping up with the portal is pretty impossible right now. Things are changing every hour.

I will say SJU is still very firmly in the mix for Cliff, a visit will be made but time will tell regarding him committing. He's got everyone after him. Also everyone has to remember with these high end kids, it's never 1-2-3 signed. They will have sharks circling...just comes with the territory.

He was very good at Arizona. Hard to evaluate what he did at WVU since that team was a mess. Two long suspensions for impermissible benefits - though I guess there is no such thing anymore. Overall I view him as a better version of Jenkins, so if you are Team Marillac you may not like him but if you are Team Carmine you may love him. However unlike Jenkins I think if they surrounded him with other offensive players he will distribute the ball more willingly.

So I guess I'm talking myself into "OK fine."

It's just that my general view of PGs is that (except for really elite scorers) I want someone whose primary focus is distribution and defense and takes enough drives and shots to keep the D honest. But I am probably a dinosaur in that regard.
Better version of Jenkins? We should be so lucky.

Also think we gotta have some level of self-awareness. We poached Chris Ledlum after he literally enrolled at Tennessee and was there for the first summer semester. lol
Ledlum was going to be a part time role player at Tennessee . Think Barnes told him Knecht was going to be Main go to guy .
Good move for Ledlum to opt out they’d abnd come to St John’s .
Once he settled into his Role , he contributed to our season . Just wish he was 6’8” instead of 6’6”

He adjusted quicker to his role than Dingle did .

Absolutely agree, I'm just saying that we can't really complain about the landscape -- especially of an uncommitted player going back on a handshake agreement -- if we were still talking to a committed, enrolled player on campus already.

Krissa is a terrific player. Tough AF... he will knock down open 3, put ppl in right position and get in your face if your not. Wipe out last yr... he would be a great first domino to fall. No apology required. It is a new world and things can and will continue to change in an instant.

Tenn brought back the kid who had declared for the draft -- James I think -- who plays the same position as Ledlum. Ledlum so his minutes going to the way of our buddy Tobe A, and so he went to a place with more potential minutes who was recruiting him before he committed to Tenn. I think it was that simple.
