Yes but the point is that injuries early seasons hurts an rntirely new team more. Luis did not practice most of year and even at end it was limited. Hard to get when you are just parachuting in for actual game.
We were relatively healthy to expect everything to go perfectly and to have zero injuries with a 14 player roster is unreasonable. There were teams that lost multiple players for the whole season.

I was one of the ones preaching patience last off season, in spite of the fact that I didn't agree with Rick's decision to jettison most of the roster. But in reality it didn't turn out to be fine, since we didn't dance last season. And I firmly believe that had he held on to a few more of Anderson's kids we would have danced. But that's water under the bridge at this point.

So, I most certainly get the lack of patience this off season by some in our fan base. Rick and Co. need to do a much better job this off season than they did last. They get a pass for last season, but no more passes for not dancing.
My point is let’s at least wait for the complete recruiting cycle before we go full mob.

He plays with the ball in his hands more than without it so it's going to be a weird fit if we end up landing Kadary.
Im not super excited about him. But this part I disagree with. Kadary needs shooters around him. Kerr was in 99th percentile last year and 86th the year before in spot up 3s. His usage rate has never been above 18%. Kadary's was 28 % and Daniss was 25 % for comparison. Both Dre Davis and Dawes had higher usage rates (22%) than Krissa playing along side Kadary and Wusu was right behind him.

We would not be playing up-tempo tho!

FWIW, I had heard several times during the season he was SJU bound. I believe as soon as the season ended I replied somewhat cryptically to a Paultzman post that I agreed this was happening.
I defy anyone to be able to navigate through this debacle; in reality there is nothing appropriate to call it except $hit$how…..
IMO, no apologies necessary
The sad irony of this whole $hit show as aptly termed is that here, St. John’s finally ( after several lousy coach hires) gets a guy, Pitino, who will bring us to the promised land, attract top flight kids etc. and now with NIL, if $1,000,000 is on the table, Pee Wee Herman can be the coach and that’s where a kids going. Can we as fans ever catch an f-ing break??????

Yeah but Kriisa also had a very high assist rate (to his credit) that doesn't count towards usage rate. I agree Kadary would need shooters around him and if Kriisa is fine with his role changing to just being a catch and shoot guy then it could work. If Kadary is the main target I think DJ Davis would have made way more sense in this role. Won't turn it over while still playing the same bad defense.

The Curbelo-Kriisa stuff makes sense about turnovers, but it's just a huge difference to be shooting 40% from 3pt vs. 25%.
yep obviously they aren't the same exact player but they have their tradeoffs. Kriisa a far better shooter, Curbelo a far better defender

Where do things stand with Kadary it seems like people are already penciling him into our lineup

$$$ rules and schools. We have become a narcissistic and vain society, to the lessening of character and pride.

I think that CRP is looking for kids with character. Sadly, he will lose some to the almighty dollar, many of whom, down the road, will regret their hasty and money driven decision. The NCAA has created a terrible conundrum for these kids that will ultimately come back to hurt them as they are young and don't have the wisdom required to make good decisions.

If Krissa comes, he's starting. I also think if he comes that another starting guard is also coming, meaning Wilcher becomes our third guard and the first one off the bench.

I think most of us probably had Wilcher penciled into the starting lineup next season, but keep in mind this year he only averaged around 9 mpg and had Jenkins/Dingle/Alleyne all ahead of him. Going from 9 mpg as a freshman to starting and 25-30 as a sophomore is quite the jump. Think 15-20 makes more sense early on and then 20-25 in conference play if he continues to develop. Junior year give him the keys to the car and make him captain.

Just my two cents. If Pitino views Krissa-Wilcher as his starting backcourt ignore what I just said lol
