SJU Portal Targets

Krissa is a terrific player. Tough AF... he will knock down open 3, put ppl in right position and get in your face if your not. Wipe out last yr... he would be a great first domino to fall. As for Cliff yes i said he was done. He was. I can nor will say anymore that anything is done. Ever. Had a kid commit yesterday and last sec new coach comes in and doubles offer. Cliff had an offer he was accepting here. He now has higher offers. This will continue to happen. Where he ends up no idea..SJ still very much in play. Apologies for misinformation...lesson learned
No apologies necessary. Thanks for posting and sharing. Everyone knows nothing is guaranteed especially in portal.

Well at least Kriisa is legit PG. I believe he was also hobbled a bit last year.

Another name for SJU out there a while has been PF Xavier Amos of Northern Illinois, but I’m sure there will be some serious suitors, very physical player

Xavier clearly has the lead on Xavier .

We had 14 players we were virtually injury free let’s not use injuries as any kind of excuse (almost every team has injuries).
Yes but the point is that injuries early seasons hurts an rntirely new team more. Luis did not practice most of year and even at end it was limited. Hard to get when you are just parachuting in for actual game.

This is a kid I'd love to see us get assuming Ledlum isn't returning, but as Paultz says I fear competition will be tough.

Literally his two suspensions were:
  1. Estonia pro contract pre-college
  2. Receiving impermissible benefits at Arizona
None are character-related issues.

I don't want my tone to be misconstrued. I'm not even all-in on this signing (if it is him), but I don't think the red flags are his character or the WVU season last year. The red flags to me are: his defense, his turnovers, and any ability to drive to the basket.

I'm not going to pretend that I watched a ton of games on him, but he's definitely a P5-level starter. If he ends up being a 25 mpg guy, our roster is in good shape. Offensively, he provides spacing we desperately need.

He's similar to Jenkins in that he doesn't get any free throw attempts (1.7 FTA per game vs. 2 FTA), but the usage #s are very different (18% vs. 25%). We won't be having the same debate last year about him ball hogging/taking too many shots.

Again, very very hard to judge any of these signings in isolation. Last year, I know we all would've been thrilled to have him.
My Curbelo comment was tongue in cheek, all in jest. 😂👍

Reality of this craziness is you can offer a solid kid, not superstar, like Cliff 750-900k and still be trumped by elites w mega “bubba sharks”. Additionally as SJU79 said you can leave the table feeling you have an agreement and 24 hours later you don’t. I was told by several very reliable guys ( & different from SJU79’s) it was done & I will now go the SJU79 route and be more conservative with my feedback.

FWIW, I had heard several times during the season he was SJU bound. I believe as soon as the season ended I replied somewhat cryptically to a Paultzman post that I agreed this was happening.
I defy anyone to be able to navigate through this debacle; in reality there is nothing appropriate to call it except $hit$how…..
IMO, no apologies necessary

Gotta think at some point, this turns off Pitino and we move on. If there's one definite thing we know, he doesn't like guys that prioritize $ in the portal.

Definitely not as bullish on Kriisa as others are. There is a lot of Curbelo in his game in terms of turnover volume and just all around head scratching decision making. Obviously he's a much better shooter than Curbelo but Kriisa plays ZERO defense. He plays with the ball in his hands more than without it so it's going to be a weird fit if we end up landing Kadary.

Obviously his shooting is a major need and I'll trust Pitino here as I normally do, I'm just struggling to see how this is going to work given his complete lack of defense. FWIW I believe Arizona was more than happy to see him transfer away after last season.

The Cliff stuff is incredibly disappointing. The perfect fit, lure him into the portal and now might end up losing him. Hopefully being closer to his host family will win out in the end but this is a major gut punch.
