SJU Portal Targets

So we heard so much early on that Pitinos second year is when major advances were made, not just by the teams but for players within his system. If we are not keeping Luis and Taylor along with Zuby, Wilcher, Dunlap and Drissa than we are back to another "first year" and if the portal players we bring in are all players with only one year of eligibility remaining, the following year will be a third "first year". Pitino will get sick of it and move on. I hate to be negative but we probably only have coach for five years or so and just went through one without making the tournament. I keep thinking back to all the excitement in Charleston and wonder if we are being set up for more pain. Forgive me as a Mets, Jets and SJU fan. At least we can be sure the Rangers will win the cup !
Exactly, that’s why when many were touting Pitino’s success after his first season, many pointed out that the landscape of college hoops has changed and you can’t count on the past.

Mid-major experience might be a problem, just like Jordan Dingle and Ledlum.
I think that is a good point. Then again, look at Alleyne. Coach is not just looking for talent, but that drive, desire, hunger that he will recognize because he has it himself. I think this is what he really loved in Jenkins and it worked, for the most part. Without him we would have been under .500. I trust that Coach will get the right group together for a good run in the NCAAs a year from now.

Tristen Newton went to East Carolina. Cam Spencer went to Loyola Maryland. Tyler Kolek went to George Mason

I don't care where these kids come from. Our staff doing a full college basketball season of scouting makes me confident they're going to be way more intentional about who to go after.

Well put. Share your concern about Pitino possibly getting frustrated and moving on after three years. Hope we're both wrong.

You were making valid points until your last line, which was nothing short of disgusting.
