SJU Portal Targets

I would not put it out there if I didn’t.
As for public statements, none was ever offered by the school as far as I know until he came back and they offered a half hearted allusion to being over an “injury”, which remained unidentified.
I was also told the school was in very uncharted waters as to how or even if to “go public” since NIL is not (supposedly) affiliated with schools at all.
In fairness, and after a bit of personal hindsight, my reaction to the info I received may have been way too “old school”, namely that the team and your teammates are everything and your loyalty is 100% with them. The truth is maybe I am a dinosaur whose values don’t translate anymore and I shouldn’t have said a word here. It is a brave new world in every way shape or form and trying to apply old values is just very likely the old square peg, round hole syndrome.
Honestly, just fed up with all this $hit, not the board, but NIL, portal, unlimited transfers, etc.
Thx Logen

mjmaherjr,
I have heard about this vote to not play by others, but have not read it anywhere of have any confirmation that it actually happened. Do you have a source for this? I am not doubting you at all, I just am curious to know where the information is coming from.
someone posted... either here or on another platform - the event they attended at Filmores - the players said directly that they voted against the NIT.

Yes. There was a St. John’s NIL event last week and multiple players told at least 1 poster that.

I shouldn't really tell you guys this, but.....

I sense one or more of our insiders will sense something later this week.

Please keep that to yourselves.
Me to my sju text chain right now: “I’m not supposed to say anything but a guy on redmen dot com just said he shouldn’t even tell us but insiders may be sensing something later this week!” 🤪

I posted it because he legitimately appeared to have been at the game and I’m not sure why his political leanings would influence the event in question.
He was at the game. You must have missed this name calling hack's picture of Hinkle from his seat high up in the bleachers. Did he fly down as the buzzer sounded to try to congratulate the Seton Hall coach?
Did you believe the " home crowd" was being passive toward the Pirate players?
As far as his constant political posts on his "sports blog, his comments and retorts are filled with vile and disgusting language which are the signs of a "hater" and haters have a tendency to fabricate things to suit their agenda.

Does it matter anymore?
And, why doubt Maher?
The other idiot savants here gather all their information from the interweb of snoops.
Do you question their sources?

Sorry if what you are saying is true all the more reason he should not have sat out the 3 games in my opinion. He is a team member , he is on a full scholarship , he is supposed to be playing for the school, he is a senior. He is hoping to get a pro contract down the road.
So they were late on a payment wow. 😮 in my line of work I am owed money all the time as most professionals are and we put our best foot forward and continue to do work.
Maybe this new game has just passed me by. Maybe I am just too old for this new game.
You, me and a slew of other formerly huge college basketball fans

Rocket,
I really don't think I expressed doubt of Maher (reread my post to him when I said: "I am not doubting you at all"). I was just wondering about it because I kept hearing it, but was unaware where it came from and was curious to know the backstory. I am sorry if my inquiry here was off putting to you but it was not intended as anything other than trying to glean some specific information.

Anyone care to speculate on what this guy is alluding to? I don't have Twitter.
Hasn't said more than that yet.

Have to assume it's regarding us.

Although if I thought this guy had super deep NSA-type insider stuff that scooped everyone, I'd say Fland decommitting and heading to UConn.

Arkansas is going to have a ton of NIL and a ton of spots to fill now and Calipari is going to want to win right away. He was already showing interest in Cliff at Kentucky. Wouldn’t be surprised if he really puts a full court press on him now.

Unless an NIL cap is implemented, the pool of programs capable of winning a national championship will continue to shrink.

Except for a very small number of college athletes, NIL recipients bring negative ROI to businesses that engage them. Unlike a pro sports team owners, NIL donors do not have a profit incentive, only the satisfaction of helping their favorite college team be competitive.

The numbers of so staggering it's hard for our fans to really consider what it takes to be competitive NIL. Rick came up with am idea of a 100 man team of donors each contributing $10,000. I'm pretty sure we don't have 100 individuals willing to donate that much on top of donations to the university. Even then, that's only $1 million, and very quickly top programs are ratcheting up budgets past $3 million to $5 million. How long before that becomes $7-10 million?

Like small market pro sports teams, it is difficult to sustain success. In college, commitments are only 1 year, which makes it far more difficult than mlb which has a wait period to enter free agency, and multi year contracts to keep budgets manageable. Here, a.mid major stat emerges and he has to leave for major NIL income.

The NCAA must get ahead of this by implementing meaningful change, but i seriously doubt they will.
