I guess you can take this one of two ways: he's a fierce competitor who, in his youth, doesn't always know how to comport himself. Or he's got real character issues. Don't know.

Who knows if this is true or not, but there are definitely flags.

It makes perfect sense because you need more than talent to win. I value character and think it makes a huge difference in building a winning team and culture. I don‘t admire or respect quitters regardless of talent and will not root for one. You feel differently and that is what makes the world go round. We just disagree.
I disagree with your premise. I didn’t want Pitino because of his laundry list of character issues. I wanted to play in the NIT because why would you quit on basketball? But we did and here we are.

Seems what we disagree on is who is allowed to have ‘character issues’. And when is it okay to ‘quit.’ Pitino, someone who quit the post season and had character issues that got him exiled from basketball is okay to ‘admire and respect’ because of his ‘coaching talent’.

Kadary, someone who some on Twitter thinks did play 3 games on the middle season, is a pariah and someone we don’t need regardless of the fact that he’d be the best player we had since Julien Champagnie.

Pitino did not quit the nit. He declined an invite. There is a big difference. Team had no obligation to accept bid. Many respected coaches did same thing. Are they all quitters with character flaws?
NCAA has ruined the nit. Took it out of msg. Campus venues. It pays teams 4000 a game. Chump change. It keeps all the profits. After being screwed by Committee, we should play for peanuts to enrich ncaa?
We did not have a young team. Seven guys leaving. If you had young team needing experience, maybe. Luis will be valuable player next year. He was playing hurt with recurring shin splints. So we should endanger his career by playing four more meaningless games?
The team did not “quit on basketball”. Better for these players to heal and explore their next step in the game. Better for our staff to scour video and find new players to make next season special.
I don’t know what went on with Kadary. I trust the staff to evaluate him. If SH reneged on his NIL, I don’t blame him. Loyalty is a two way street. Soon ncaa will have to decide if breach of a nil deal is cause to allow immediate transfer. It should be.

With all due respect, this is ridiculous. Isn’t forgiveness a central tenet to Catholicism and all the Abrahamic religions?

I’m also not going to judge kids too much on what they do in the heat of competition.

The three, Pitino’s hire, the NIT, and Richmond’s recruitment are three completely different situations. If you can’t accept we simply disagree on Richmond, which is completely what this back and forth is about, I don’t know what to say. You are certainly not going to change my mind.

we need players who are going to buy in to what the coach wants to do and not to play for themself and a future contract, chemistry is far more important in my opinion. That should be the only question surrounding Kadary.
There’s no indication that Kadary has ever done anything on the court that would be considered playing only for himself and a future contract.

In any other walk of life if somebody was promised compensation for a service and those payments weren’t coming that person would immediately stop performing that service. Kadary was being treated like Milton Waddams so I don’t quite understand why people hold that situation against him when they would have done the exact same thing

I'm not a big KR fan only because he is much more talented than his on-court effort.
He clearly "under-performs" when he is not into it.
