Seton Hall, Wed., Feb. 1, 8:30p, CBSSN

Incredible when an opponent switches to a zone SJ is likely going to struggle. Says something about preparation, very few zone busting shooters and inability to adjust.
The turning point of the game was when SH went into the zone and our high IQ players tried to beat it by driving through it. You beat a zone by passing and dribble penetration and passing. You do not try to take it all the way to the basket on the dribble against a zone, which we did continually. We also never ran plays to try and set up Storr, Wusu or Jones for uncontested outside shots against trhe zone (coaching).

I see a mutual parting immediately after the season is over. Iona was kind enough to offer Pitino his landing spot for penance. there is no better option for us, not even close and it needs to be done immediately after Andersons departure is announced.

Hopefully the Pitino commitment will be negotiated Before Anderson's departure is announced.

Selfish right there
Posh ahead of him
Lol man you just can’t help yourself. He is so far from our issue. I’ll start mentioning every time Storr gets beat on d, for a loose ball, or doesn’t fight for a rebound. My posts will go up 10x

There is losing and there is the way one loses. Fundamental breakdowns on defense, giving up wide open 3’s and easy layups. Dawes already lit up SJU earlier this year and he still gets wide open looks. Careless unforced turnovers, passing ball to a trailing Nywie on the break??? Throwing the ball at Nywie’s feet in the post??? Seven minutes into second half, we are in the bonus. Yet the staff cannot take advantage, due to the lack of acumen our half court sets have displayed during CMAs tenure.

This all reeks of lack of preparation, lack of attention to detail. It all starts at the top.

Not sure if we stand around and watch the ball more on offense or on defense. We got beat back door for layups five times last night. And as we all saw, it wasn’t due to us over extending and taking away perimeter jumpers.

We have zero identity. If you’re gonna be a team that can’t shoot, you better make up for it in the paint and at the FT line. Nope.
If your a team who can’t guard the perimeter, you better make up for it by protecting the paint. Nope.

Scratch that, I guess that means our identity is a shitty basketball team.

like Walt Clyde Frazier says all the time, the way not to get beat for back door plays is SEE THE BALL, SEE YOUR MAN.

CMA should listen to Clyde on the Knicks' games, he preaches it all the time. Clyde an all time defender!

I don't understand why all our opponents don't play the zone against us the majority of the time.
I agree - and say it all the time. We look completely inept offensively every time we face a zone. Every time.

How can that be? What do we do for two hours of practice every day? I said this in other circumstances going back to the Jarvis years, but every CYO coach I know (including me), can diagram an offense right now to move the ball, swing the zone, and get driving lanes and open shots against a zone. Now 14 year old CYO players may miss the shots, but the shots are there. Yet a Big East team that practices two hours a day cannot do that?

It is mind-boggling to me, and it always has been.

Honestly if he just played 3 and D wouldn’t have a problem
His success rate driving to the basket has to be less than 10%
Never seen anything like it

1. The mic up game was alarming, the home game v Xavier. Game 3 of the new BE season, and this team quit...quit on the coaches and quit on themselves...not to mention their university or fans. Game 3...Quit!

2. Curbelo needs to be gone. Remember how the refs didn't like Mullin, he was always complaining...welcome to Mullin Part II, the refs don't want to hear from turnover machines on 8th place teams always complaining and acting out. he should have been T-ed up for the gesture with Ndefo, but slamming his glasses down, with gestures and vocal, really a poster child for the lack of discipline on the team. He's not that big that the rest of the team must suffer.

3. Cragg might have to go too. He signs off on the cupcake schedule and his extension to CMA. Shanley signed off too, but he only just arrived when presented by Cragg.

4. Make peace with Mike Repole.

We have only 4 guys on our team who shoot 70% or better from the line - Storr (76%), Posh & Jones (74%) and Soriano (71%); talk about pathetic for a college basketball team.
Stanley would be on the court 30 minutes a game if he could shoot free throws.
