Seton Hall (UBS), Sun., Feb. 18, 5p, FS-1

That is the WHOLE reason we hired Pitino. It is the faith in HIM that he can turn this program around. That's what you do with every coach or person in authority, is that they will make it better, there is never any evidence outside of past results!
Very, very well said.

If you're Simeon Wilcher, you just heard your coach describe the guys who play in front of you as non-athletic and not tough enough.

How does Wilcher come back next year after hearing that? How can he imagine a future here?

Man....that presser was a flood of emotion and poor judgement. Something I would expect from a young coach, not a HOF veteran.
Probably by bringing his brother in because I think we'll be looking to fill 10 spots again.

Plus dad is a longtime fan and I think they give it another season.

This thread getting to 60 pages tonight for Sir Eric and he made a great point to Monte and me when he said if we didn’t have post game breakaway threads after the game we might hit 70 pages :)

I'm pretty sure Pitino stated that Wilcher will be a starter next year in one of his recent press conferences.

Easily over 70 without the other threads that popped up after the game. Losses promote a lot more activity. And losses with his press conference look out.

I don’t think it’s a bad option but his bro better be ready to play D

Obviously we’ve all heard the comments from Rick as has the rest of the world. But we have no idea what his private conversations are like with the team or with each kid individually. That’s obviously a huge part of what these kids are thinking and we aren’t privy to any of it.

Before the season started, I posted about wondering when the first posts blaming Pitino would make it to the board. I'm not counting the posters who criticized Pitino early on for chasing some players to other programs. That was a given, like stating Haku is the most legit bad ass pro wrestler ever. Which is funny since he had a terrible record in pay per views. Like us in national TV games.

While there was scattered negative chatter about Pitino along the way, the brunt of the blame happened last night. Is that even before Norm, Mullin, CMA and Lavin? If so, who would have thought that possible? That's what you get when you tell the media at your first presser that turning around the program at St. John's will be easy. He should have asked any of us first. We would have set him straight.

Love the Haku/Meng reference

It’s happened WAY before any of the complaints about Lavin, Mullin and CMA but back then there weren’t as many dumb dumbs on this forum as there are now. A HOF coach just ain’t cutting it for them right now but they were fine 3 years into Mike Anderson’s tenure.

Just watched the game tonight. Holy hell. I just kept thinking... "This is the time we finally pull it out. We can't lose a 19 POINT LEAD. No way. We're turning the corner here." God. I don't even know what to say I'm just so flabbergasted. Have to say I finally crossed the line into losing faith in the team.

What happened to Glenn Taylor? He gave us a relatively solid first half. Then Dunlap came in and looked aweful, and Taylor doesn't get any more burn?

Everyone has figured out that if you stop Joel, you stop STJ. I don't understand why we haven't adapted our game plan as well.

This has been almost as disappointing a season as last season, only because of the great start to conference play we had and that we were gaining momentum.

Final note, the press conference from Pitino yesterday was embarrassing IMO. Blaming everything on the players and how soft they are. "We didn't have a choice we had to take the players we could get". At the begining of the season you said you had 4 future NBA'ers on this team. Honestly, I was disgusted hearing it, it was classless and it made Pitino look like he lost it. How does a recruit trust him now? How does this team now push themselves for him?

There's been a lot of low's as a STJ fan. This game was one of the worst. I'm so low right now.

Can't believe Dingle gave up a UPenn diploma for this
I was listening to a Goodman & I believe Seth talking about the situation at SJU and they were giving a lot if credence to Pitinos claim of lack of time. They also mentioned how the players at Penn and Harvard were glad Dingle and Ledlum left. They said if they had more choices and time they may have passed in them. That was surprising for sure.

The second half lead blown, The press conference, and the future - the sad reality of where we are in year one under Rick Pitino right now

Another great podcast Dave….. telling it like it is but wait….. Did I hear Pitino say…” I never expected to win this year” ? Wait…what??? Let’s go back to his introductory press conference where he said….” St John’s will be back and it’s going to happen, NOT IN YEARS BUT IN MONTHS” Months does mean this year. Is he forgetting what he said a few months ago? Discouraging to say the least.

And another thing…. A few weeks ago a reporter asked Pitino about Brady looking kind of frail for his position and Pitino’s comment was something like… “I don’t care if Brady builds himself up, he’s fine the way he is”….. Now after yesterdays loss, he comments that Brady is too weak?????
