Seton Hall (UBS), Sun., Feb. 18, 5p, FS-1

He's averaging 6.4 PPG. His career average is 8 PPG. His best seasons were 11 PPG and 9 PPG on a team where he was getting 30 MPG.

Good kid, good defender, team player, appreciate that you love him but Steph Curry he ain't. He has never been a consistent shooter or scorer, ever. He's a complementary piece on a good team, that is who he has always been.

Honestly your posts about him are more consistent (although wrong) than his shooting.
The stats you quote are what they are . But , you didn’t mention that he sustained a bad Ankle sprain a few weeks ago . You didn’t factor in that a hurt or less than 100 percent player is going to underperform .

He is a role player but , he contributed energy and some timely points in UCONN’s run last season . Earlier in the season before the injury , he was capable of hitting some key shots .
He’s streaky when healthy and a decent defender . The injury has taken that away from him .

Yes , consistency in posting one’s opinion is more relevant , even if others have different ones . All considered and valued .

None of us here are professional Scouts , recruiters , Coaches , etc . Thus, we don’t see the Talent differentials that exist between players . Often those differentials are subtle .

In my opinion , the reason this Team is not more successful is the old adage . “ It’s not the X’s and O’s It’s the Billy and Joe’s .”

This team doesn’t have any Billy’s and Joe’s .
I’m being facetious but , other than Soriano and Jenkins , who on this team , excluding Zuby, Brady and Wilcher , would have been a Player on any other BE Team, not named DePaul?

Alleyne, yes as a Role player .

But, I ask . Luis ? Doubtuful .p
Had a sociology professor at St. John’s who ended one class by saying “Next time we will discuss the Black Plague and rats. Not my students other rats”. Didn’t like him anyway but for sure didn’t like that comment. Don’t think anyone put in a complaint. Think that comment was worse than anything Pitino said about his players. Maybe today that prof gets in a little hot water if a complaint is made but doubt he would get fired.
College Professors today are among the last people we want to use as barometers in anything . Basket Ball included .

Not meant to criticize your post , Bama . I just went in a different direction .

How many games have we been yelling for the players to get back on defense on the board?
He is telling the truth the team will not listen and follow directions. They are apathetic and it’s killing Pitno.
I get all that. I do. It’s maddening and truth be told, I’ve stopped watching the games because I’d rather not get worked up because I do, I can’t help it. But, keep the crap in the locker room and say, hey, I could be better also. He’s the leader, he’s the coach.

Also what was RP's point by implying that Ed Cooley and the DePaul interim coach were "frustrated' the same way he is? I've haven't heard either of them express those sentiments about their teams.

If RP is not in the "proper frame of mind" to conduct a more professional post game interview (without publicly criticizing individual players) immediately after this type of loss maybe he should delegate the interview to his Assistant Steve M.

Wonder if Farher Shanley has or will be discussing Rick's interview approach with him or if he is OK with this "somewhat unusual" way of conducting a post game interview.

Do you think he has not told his players what he said in the in the press ad nauseam?

If you watch the whole press conference it comes across better than seeing it in print. Still I don't agree with using names but it is not as bad as it is being portrayed.
In what way? Not questioning your point at all but I have not listened and very interested in your take.

CRP seems like he is auditioning for the sequel to "Grumpier Old Men". With Lemmon and Matthau long gone, the roles are open. I know he is not used to losing, so can that be what is putting in him such a bad mood? Or is he fed up with NIL and the portal and feels players that are pros have to take the criticism of pros? We have no baseline for him since he hasn't failed on the college level very often.

The Big East is a beast of a conference. Not the right place to rebuild from the ground up with a short window, and expect to compete with the best. At least not in the first year. Unlike some here, I have no issue with him blowing up the team. First off, some left on their own accord. Others had to go, and I'm glad they did.

CRP is a hall of famer, but this conference has a lot of talented coaches who may well end up joining him there. I'm still bullish because CRP knows what he needs to do, maybe now more than before the season started.

You’re missing my point. Don’t go to the media about crap like this. Don’t name names. Take some of the blame.

That’s it. I’m pretty positive he’s lit into these guys 100 times worse in private.
My point is this was his last effort to get through to them. If they show heart and play tougher the rest of the year. Would you feel different about his comments?

anyone else 'feel' that Block Wusu had on Dunlap's 3?... i was about 15 rows up from that... felt sorry for Brady laying on the floor... That block felt personal... and encapsulated the 2nd half.

But he (a) recruited them and (b) is coaching them. So if he is going to say they stink, then he really needs to state explictly that he’s the reason why. Which of course he will never do.
I don’t I necessarily agree Redenbacher. Pitino said in the press conference that these players hear but they don’t listen. He said, it’s taken them two and half months to get them to throw a bounce pass. Whose fault is this. Pitino is the coach and these players have listen to him. If he goes over when and in what situations he wants them to utilize the bounce pass the players should be doing it immediately the next game. I don’t think these kids are listening to him. Throw a God Damn bounce pass when he tells you to. These kids are getting a free education in addition to getting paid and they can’t listen to the coach? I don’t blame Pitino for being frustrated beyond belief if this is the case. You hear Pitino in these huddles when they mic it, he’s being very clear in what he wants and then they don’t do it. It’s not like a CMA huddle. He’s being very specific in what he wants. These kids are just not doing what needs to be done. Now, Pitino should be keeping all this in house and just go about his business in the off season but these kids are just not listening. It’s on them.

If his rant focused on being disappointed about the kids not hustling on transition D & not listening to him, I'd probably appreciate the candor.

Honestly….no. I don’t think naming names to the media is okay. Whether or not what he’s saying is correct or not. You want to rip these guys apart at practice, in the locker room, even the game itself…have at it.

The bigger problem is…if it takes this to get them to show heart, then you definitely recruited the wrong guys. And, therefore, it’s also on him to a big extent.

He wasn't attacking but explaining. He was positive about the future and SJU in general. The comment about the facilities is being taken way out if proportion. Again, he should have said "we" are a slow team laterally which makes it hard to defend. Using names went too far but again it wasn't t an attack.

And he did say he recruited the wrong guys.

Saying those things publicly about Brady is poor . But , Brady’s Dad is a former Coach and knows exactly where Brady fits in a League like the BE.

Objectively , Brady needs to put on Muscle over the off season . But , any College Coach he would play for , would say the same thing to him .
He was committed to ND before coming here , with their Coaching change but , playing in the ACC , he would need to bulk up too .

Brady will be. 4 year player somewhere but , I am thinking he stays the course here .

He’s over matched right now and Pitino knows it . But, he gets into games because you never know when a long range shooter will get hot .
Agree regarding Brady as he’s so thin he looks undernourished. However that’s not something that should have been broadcast to the entire world but rather discussed under private quarters unless of course you are trying to put the blame for losing on everyone but yourself.

Everything that is wrong with this team lays at Pitno’s feet. I listened to the whole presser. It wasn’t that bad. He said a kid was slow laterally. And one needs to get stronger. Gosh that is so harsh and cruel.
