Seton Hall, Sun. Feb. 21, Noon, FS1 & 570 AM

I drove home thinking we got one of the worst ref jobs in sju history with that loose ball foul. I guess you guys saw differently on tv

1st have was beyond sickening. 2nd half was fun to watch. Very sloppy though

How is it that this late in the season we are so horrible at ft's ?

Also that last play we had one one of the worst I have ever seen

Yakwe was great today

Ok. I'm going to try posting 2 positives:

1). As God awful as we've played, I'm surprised we're only down 14
2). It looks like a pretty large crowd.

Was at game and said that to my buddy at the half

Simply put yes we did deserve to lose this game! A team that cannot make the easiest
F---kin shot in the game does not deserve to win. Also, does Mullin draw up any plays? It appears that St Jean is running the team! I don't get it!

Screw moral victories at this stage of the season. That's great for a new inexperience team in the beginning of the season not now. You win this game with one more game against DePaul and you have a shot to get out of the cellar.

As for as the officiating it was horrible the entire game you don't ge to complain when:

1. The Opposing team loses three players to fouls and you lose none

2. You get a foul in the bonus turned into a flagrant one foul and get the ball afterwards because after listening to the opposing coach to go to the replay to confirm Ellison was the one fouled (which they did confirm) they realized the foul was flagrant. With all of that, you score one point in the series.

3. You have a guy at the line with 10 seconds to go only hit one of two free throws.

4. You miss 14 out of 24 from the line.

I can live with the loss. Yawke was amazing. I can't live with 41% free throw shooting. If we practiced nothing else.......

During a timeout in the first half Mullin told team not to worry about foul shooting, it will take care of its self. Say What?

Psychology trying to get them not to obsess over it. It's been done before.

I can't really argue with any of these points.

If Sima catches it and passes back to Mvouika which is what I believe he was supposed to do we might think differently. Mvouika was open. I think we can all agree Sima trying to dribble and make a post move was horrendous in that situation.

This was one of those games we clearly win if we have a point guard

I am tired hearing this. We should have won this game period. No excuses. At least 3 of their players fouled out including Delgado, you are in the bonus in the first half while the other team isn't and you have the ball at the end. Stupid mistakes, lack of knowledge of situations and trying to do things you are not capable of is what cost them this game. Wings driving the baseline and trying to throw the ball out to the top only to be "surprised" the pass was intercepted repeatedly is a lack of understanding period.

Sima dribbling the ball trying to go to the hoop instead of catching it and passing it back to Mvouika who made a cut to the corner and had room to get a shot off was not smart. Yes we are young but we have approximately 30 games under your belt. Time to realize when you have a chance to capitalize you take it and the second half was full of opportunities to seize and we didn't.

10 for 24 at the line is horrible. How many of those came on the front end? How many came after a made shot and a foul. What's the point of yelling and one and getting pumped up if you can't make a damn free throw,

Yea sure we should've won anyway. But you're complaining about a bunch of things that are going wrong because of a lack of execution. Execution on the offensive end runs directly through point guards. And we don't have one. You may be tired of hearing it but it keeps being said because it is 100% true. I'm mad we lost but I'm not going to partake in the doom and gloom frenzy going on.

that's the thing. What exactly was the play because if the play was to kick it back out they had it but Sima dribbled which leads me to think that wasn't the play.

Was beyond confused with that

Reverse Psychology used to make them not obsesse over it. It's been used before by other coaches including a Hall of Famer.

The problem is we can't even execute on free throws

@nation_st @bballtalk923 based on replay looked like whitehead said something to Johnson in handshake line. Johnson then went off. #sjubb

They were chirping to each other during game

Sorry Jack, th point guard doesn't have the ball in his hands 100% of the time. Once it leaves his hand the other players need to know what to do with it when in theirs. Most of the turnovers today were by players after the received the ball from whimever was running the offense. That includes Balamou's reckless charge and Johnson's and Mvouika's Turnovers after driving on the base line and relying to kick it back out. Also on how and when to make entry passes into the post

For me, the silver linings were. . .

1) leaving a game, for the 1st time in a while, feeling really agitated (vs. disgusted) that we blew an opportunity.
2) fact that our young guys were instrumental in comeback despite free throws and turnovers
3) Inside defensive presence and toughness demonstrated by Yakwe and Sima...SH was absolutely afraid to come inside mid 2nd half

Didn't see the replays but thought that we got jobbed down the stretch.

No senior leadership and lack of point guard really hurt.

Terrible last play..there was absolutely nothing that Sima could do with back to basket and 2.6 seconds left...didn't belong in middle of play unless it was drawn up for him to immediately pass back to a shooter...would have preferred to inbound to Yakwe could at least have turned to the baseline

Anyway, very exciting and all signs are positive

[NOTE: Spoke to another fan who shared a conversation he had with a non-SJ coach who told him that we have Grad Senior big coming in who will be best player on team...Perhaps Paultz et al...have an idea...encouraging news that hopefully can accelerate our ascent

Did hear Matt was targeting fifth year interior guy, but no clue who. The "best player on the team" comment may just be fan hyperbole I suspect. We are good at that. :)

Ron whacked Whitehead a couple of times. Right call

Coming out of the TO with 10 seconds on the clock the coaches must reinforce the fact that SH has no timeouts left and if the free throw is missed, don't foul. Now whether they did tell the team that in the huddle or not, or if Ron's overly aggressive competitive nature took over, we really don't know. But it's a real kick in the nuts to lose a game like this.
