Seton Hall, Sun. Feb. 21, Noon, FS1 & 570 AM

In the past that kind of testiness would generally play itself out during the game. Unless something flagrant happened(iE a punch)the game would just continue. Now, with how tightly the games are officiated, it sometimes spills over to the post game. Wish basketball had a little more hockey in it lol.

Could not agree more; refereeing is in a word, horribly inconsistent. What is a foul seems to change a couple of times within a single game. Good example was the elbow Whitehead threw in the last scrum; I have NO problem with it not being called but in other games I have seen less called a flagrant 2.

We seem to have the ability to make teams play poorly. Their underestimation of us, or our tough D?

Sure SJU merited win with comeback effort, but did not deserve it with 20 turnovers & countless free throw misses. Tough to overcome that with our limited squad.

Did SHU deserve the win? No - according to the one SHU fan in 114.

In reality, deserving has nothing to do with it. Both teams missed a ton of fouls and had a boatload of turnovers. We just don't know how to win; I believe we will learn.

Ellison made stupid ,freshman mistakes at the end that cost us. Not calling a time out when trapped and the unnecessary foul at the end. That said, he is coming a long nicely. On the other hand Mussini seems to be in a funk. Still an enjoyable game. I thought Sima was our player w the highest upside, but unless he is still injured my vote goes w Yakwe, kid is going to be a star.

Would like to see TO rule changed back to allow coaches to call them when ball in play. Ellison missed an open Mussini in the corner.

I too agree. Great point Monte

I don't condone fighting or commiting assault on the basketball court.
But for decades the game involved a little pushing and shoving from time to time. NBA, HS, rec league ... we all know its a pjysical game. And sometimes guys emotions spilled over. A little yelling and pushing allows guys to release that pent up emotion, and move on with the game.
If you T up everybody that pushes someone off them after a particularly aggressive boxout... then guys explode at the end of the game.

Can't agree with Mullin's last play with 2 + seconds left. First of all Sima takes too long trying to make any inside moves. And he can't make free throws.

Apparently Mullin didn't hear my yelling at the TV screen, "Put Johnson in for Ellison." BTW, can anyone make two foul shots?

This was one of those games we clearly win if we have a point guard

I am tired hearing this. We should have won this game period. No excuses. At least 3 of their players fouled out including Delgado, you are in the bonus in the first half while the other team isn't and you have the ball at the end. Stupid mistakes, lack of knowledge of situations and trying to do things you are not capable of is what cost them this game. Wings driving the baseline and trying to throw the ball out to the top only to be "surprised" the pass was intercepted repeatedly is a lack of understanding period.

Sima dribbling the ball trying to go to the hoop instead of catching it and passing it back to Mvouika who made a cut to the corner and had room to get a shot off was not smart. Yes we are young but we have approximately 30 games under your belt. Time to realize when you have a chance to capitalize you take it and the second half was full of opportunities to seize and we didn't.

10 for 24 at the line is horrible. How many of those came on the front end? How many came after a made shot and a foul. What's the point of yelling and one and getting pumped up if you can't make a damn free throw,

Problem is that we don't have a single guard or wing who can shake a defender to get a jump shot off in that situation, with so little time. From watching at the game, seemed the play was designed for Sima to take advantage of his size and get off a shot going towards the rack, or for him to pass it immediately back to Ron, who slid the corner uncovered. Sima missed him because Ron was wide open once Desi left him to help.

Wasn't addressing SH, so,as usual, I don't get your point.

Yes he was open.

Coach K's allowed to do it. May as well let the rest of the coaches join him

Super effort down the stretch by Yakwe squandered by terrible execution and not stepping on their throat when they lost two front court guys to fouls. Wrong guys in the game in the last 3 minutes. Foul shooting hurt, but we had this game and gave it right back to them.

It is also stunning how many of these refs work so many games a week. In my opinion that factors into the inefficiency & inconsistency.

I can live with the loss. Yawke was amazing. I can't live with 41% free throw shooting. If we practiced nothing else.......

During a timeout in the first half Mullin told team not to worry about foul shooting, it will take care of its self. Say What?
