The assessment was coming from the coach...the guy I spoke to actually didn't know the target..in any case, point taken, we have heard enough hype beforeFor me, the silver linings were. . .
1) leaving a game, for the 1st time in a while, feeling really agitated (vs. disgusted) that we blew an opportunity.
2) fact that our young guys were instrumental in comeback despite free throws and turnovers
3) Inside defensive presence and toughness demonstrated by Yakwe and Sima...SH was absolutely afraid to come inside mid 2nd half
Didn't see the replays but thought that we got jobbed down the stretch.
No senior leadership and lack of point guard really hurt.
Terrible last play..there was absolutely nothing that Sima could do with back to basket and 2.6 seconds left...didn't belong in middle of play unless it was drawn up for him to immediately pass back to a shooter...would have preferred to inbound to Yakwe could at least have turned to the baseline
Anyway, very exciting and all signs are positive
[NOTE: Spoke to another fan who shared a conversation he had with a non-SJ coach who told him that we have Grad Senior big coming in who will be best player on team...Perhaps Paultz et al...have an idea...encouraging news that hopefully can accelerate our ascent
Did hear Matt was targeting fifth year interior guy, but no clue who. The "best player on the team" comment may just be fan hyperbole I suspect. We are good at that.![]()
Ron whacked Whitehead a couple of times. Right call
Coming out of the TO with 10 seconds on the clock the coaches must reinforce the fact that SH has no timeouts left and if the free throw is missed, don't foul. Now whether they did tell the team that in the huddle or not, or if Ron's overly aggressive competitive nature took over, we really don't know. But it's a real kick in the nuts to lose a game like this.
What happened at the end? The SHU board is claiming someone said a slur at Gordon which I hope isn't true.
Terrible play or execution coming out of TO. Very very disappointing. Not feeling a moral victory here.
Why does the youngest coach draw up the final shot?
Everyone saw game. No need to comment. Simply the most painful loss in several years.
We nearly inched towards 10 wins which i thought would be a nice accomplishment for this bunch. Too bad

Maybe for you, me, not even being remotely competitive against Providence in the BE tourney and San Diego State in NCAA last year were painful; compared to those this was a joy because we played with heart. We played lousy and stupid but we played.
I can live with the loss. Yawke was amazing. I can't live with 41% free throw shooting. If we practiced nothing else.......
During a timeout in the first half Mullin told team not to worry about foul shooting, it will take care of its self. Say What?
Psychology trying to get them not to obsess over it. It's been done before.

Neither Movouika nor Johnson are smart players...both have penchant for obvious reach-ins and forces...
In Ron's mind, he has yet to foul this year

What difference does the age of the coach make? I and others believe the play was to kick back to Mvouika who was open. If so, lousy execution, not lousy play. Actually, it was a great play because going inside out meant the defense would collapse, which it did, and provide a jumper facing the basket in the flow as opposed to inbounding outside to someone moving away from the basket for a heave possibly contested. We had a myriad of chances down the stretch to not come down to that play, we cashed in none of them. We could have quit and gotten blown out and didn't. No game is won or lost on a single play and coaching is not the problem, talent and experience are. People don't like it to hear it but that's the fact.

@nation_st @bballtalk923 based on replay looked like whitehead said something to Johnson in handshake line. Johnson then went off. #sjubb
They were chirping to each other during game

It looked like Whitehead said, "Bitch ass" to Johnson in the handshake line....
As for our players saying a gay slur towards their player, nobody will really know what was said. If you go on the SHU board, there's some people saying they are 100% certain something was said. I don't quite understand how they can be so sure if they weren't in the scrum (MSG was filled with boos towards the refs at this point).

I wouldn't exactly say that one team "started" it. Whitehead and Johnson say something when passing during the handshakes. Emotions get out of hand after a close, intense game. Nothing really out of the ordinary for a sporting event.

At least none of our players flipped the bird on their way off the court like an opposing player did.
