As far as Smith goes, I know all the armchair physicians were beseeching for him to not go in or at least be taken out but if he was cleared to play, he was cleared to play. It is very possible he is just going to have to learn to play with the pain and restricted motion and the risk of further injury is very minimal and further rest is not going to significantly improve the condition of the shoulder; so tonight was the chance to start that process in preparation for the tougher games.
The point is none of us are privy to the injury details and the fact that he was “off” without knowing those particulars is not necessarily a valid reason to not play him.
Pitino knows how important Smith is to an NCAA run. He speaks directly to the player, trainer, and outside doctors . He is not a drunken sailor on leave. He would not have played Smith in a blow out unless he was confident in doing so. Second guess all you want but understand your opinion is based on zero facts. Rick is not a rookie coach desperate to rack up a win. He is in the hall of fame for a reason. Trust in Rick!

Prey is excellent staying in front of guards on switches. Looks awkward, but really moves his feet well. He is finding his groove, with some nifty blocks & will help us down the stretch a lot. You really don’t need him to score.
Agreed. As a side note, when he does have the ball he needs to face the basket. Right now he’s not even looking for a shot. If he turns to the basket it keeps the defense honest and makes him a bigger passing threat.

No doubt, but that may take a little time, but overall for a guy who got here late, I am pleased by his defensive development & presence. He seems to also understand role. His skill level is good and like most Euro players, he appears well coached.

So if he is not fully healed play Glover even though Smith is better in ensuring win? Really?
If he shoots 0-6, shoots airballs, doesn't go up hard for rebounds or driving to badket, becomes left dribble dominant etc., then possibly.

I'm just not a fan of expecting injured players to perform as we need. Much rather them work out the kinks & dust off spider webs in practice. He just looked uncomfortable.

I watched for it…It was as if they didn’t know each other
Thanks. I missed it. It’s business. KR has a child. An uncertain pro career. He opted for one m and a coach who could get him to next level, which Sha could not do in two years. KD did right move for his family. Sha should understand and respect that. Sha left his former team and players for money and better job. He has no moral high ground here.
