Wilcher needs to be ready to shoot coming off the screens… he’s too hesitant
He’s a good shooter and needs to take them and make them for us to get to the next level
Here’s the issue though. Wilcher has been in a so called slump since the Big East schedule began. As this point, is it a slump or is he not up for this level of competition? He never had shooting issues against the weaker teams we have faced. If you were to watch his overall play, while he mostly holds his own defensively, when he is pressured with the ball or doubled, he is physically overwhelmed. I think the issue with him may be that he’s not, at this point , up for the physicality of the competition. You may also notice that as the game wears on, many of his three point attempts are short.

I hope he does get his shot together to compensate for whatever the issue may be and agree that for this team to be able to get to the level of competing with SEC level teams or UConn and Marquette, his offensive production will have to increase. Right now, RJ is carrying the team offensively but as we saw with Creighton (RJ 8 points) that won’t always be the case.

Wilchers getting good shots. They’re not going in. I like his aggressiveness and I wanna see more of it. I don’t think hes settling at all.

He’s improved defensively and made some huge plays for us when it mattered most.

There’s time for glover w Brady out. Nice problem to have.

I believe in Sim. There’s been struggles but he’s getting a lot of reps and he’s had some clutch moments of late which to me signals he can play at this level

What we need from him is more consistency, which I hope will come in due time.
Sim is well worth the investment, has hit some big shots even when ice cold, and provides some spark on those penetration dunks.

In off season, I believe he will add some strength helping him drive/score through contact and suspect staff will help him avoid drifting on his jumper v squaring up, which he is apt to do. All in all, Sim has improved and I really expect another jump in his play next season. People forget that in portal era young kids are trying to compete w men in their 20s (some 24-25) w superior strength and experience. We were excited about stealing a Tar Heel recruit, but perhaps underestimated the learning curve. Kid is a keeper with a nice upside and suspect he will stick around.

I can’t argue with anything really but I still do believe in the kid. It’s a long season he just needs to have a few go in as he as the ability.

I could always be proven wrong and do believe not withstanding the above that Glover needs a longer look.

Glover is obviously a talented, strong and athletic player, who initially in early games seemed very anxious to get in scoring column, which I get. His bigger learning curve was on defense and he really struggled there. Pitino noted a week or so ago he has a lot to work on. That says to me he will get some opportunities, but will have to wait until next year for more significant PT. That does not mean he can’t come in and make a big shot or play, but he should really use his practice time to hone his skills and be better prepared for this level. Different positions, but you can see Prey probably had had more fundamentals coaching than Glover and has won Rick’s trust. Glover hopefully pays his dues in practices and enjoys a similar path.

Glover does seem to be more active defensively..tipped balls, quicker switchtes, etc. Sometimes kids develop quickly let's hope Glover is one of them because the kids talent is evident and his demeanor looks like it would be perfect for big spots.

Season goes so quickly and w Kadary, Smith and Sim, not easy to get Glover minutes. Not sure Rick has enough confidence in Glove to hand him some of Sim’s minutes, but we’ll see. Of course if Smith struggles w his shoulder that could change the equation. 🤞🙏 that Smith recovers fully though.

Both Prey and Glover are starting to look like they will be contributors as the season progresses.

Glover has a nice looking shot. If the defense keeps improving, he will get some time. He isn't going to do the other stuff as well yet -- create for himself, attack the point, rebound -- at least consistently. I think he's a year away on that. But if he can defend and space the floor b/c he's a threat, he will get some burn. Opposing teams are scouting his ability to both take and potentially knock down the 3 -- one of the zillion times Sha went crazy last night on one of his kids was when Coleman fell for Glover's ball-fake to free himself for a knockdown 3. It was right in front of Sha. We whipped the ball around the perimeter, RJ fed Glover, who ball-faked to Kadary in the corner. Coleman jumped out of his shoes to Kadary, which gave Glover enough time to knock down the 3. Sha clearly wanted Coleman to just stay on Glover there because of the shooting threat, and leave KR alone in the corner.

Prey -- it's all been said about his improvements defensively. That's going to be his ticket to PT as well. If can do anything by way of offense, even better.

As far as Smith goes, I know all the armchair physicians were beseeching for him to not go in or at least be taken out but if he was cleared to play, he was cleared to play. It is very possible he is just going to have to learn to play with the pain and restricted motion and the risk of further injury is very minimal and further rest is not going to significantly improve the condition of the shoulder; so tonight was the chance to start that process in preparation for the tougher games.
The point is none of us are privy to the injury details and the fact that he was “off” without knowing those particulars is not necessarily a valid reason to not play him.

THANK YOU!

I agree he’s hesitant and it’s probably due to the slump. He has to be more confident and look for that shot off screens as it’s there.
