Quality post. Very MainMan-esque.I'll say 1 more thing. This loss is absolutely not on Drissa Traore
well we do have the same initials not including middle namesQuality post. Very MainMan-esque.
Not sure the fans were duped. This team had a slew of concerns(lack of outside shooting, could Posh/Belo coexist, etc, etc) heading in to the season. The notion that this team was highly talented and deep was farcical from the get go. They showed nothing during the cupcake portion of the schedule to alleviate or even lessen those concerns. While I wasn't expecting great things from this team, I also wasn't prepared for things to look as bleak as they do now. I don't feel duped, since I never bought in to all the hype anyway. It is painfully obvious that this team is poorly constructed and, other than David Jones, Anderson did not bring in the comparative talent we lost.
First, Anderson made the team smaller. Posh and Curbelo are barely 6 footers. Montez Mathis is a 6'4 guard and David Jones is 6'6.
Last season we had Champagnie at 6'8, Wheeler at 6'9 and Soriano at 6'11 as our front line. Mathis, Wusu who are both 6'4 were bench players. Stef Smith was solid as the two guard and fit better in the backcourt with Posh.
Heck, we even had Tareq Coburn off the bench at 6'5 who was a better shooter than anyone we have now coming off the bench.
In short, we the fans were duped into thinking the additions of Storr, Curbelo and Jones were an improvement.
The fans have been awarded with smaller seats and beer.
In the end it's the same shit, different year with mediocre basketball, an old hot box of a gym, an uninvolved student fan base and more questions rather than answers about the future of the program.
I am hopeful Father Shanley can make a difference but he may be too focused on turning St. John's into another woke university than a traditional basketball power.
I always hope but watching them since the August games They are what they are at this pointNot sure the fans were duped. Temporary loss of sight may have helped earlier. At least I have no loss of taste and smell, so I have that going for me, which is nice.
Watching this team causes temporary loss of mind. Or that could just be age.Temporary loss of sight may have helped earlier.
I disagree, he actually has NBA coaching experience and was actually successful as a an NBA coach. He won 51 games his last year at Golden State. My only question would be how committed he would be to actually putting in the work and being successful here. We can’t afford another Mullin offseason no show routine. But, I have no doubt that if he is serious about coming here and doing what’s necessary that’s he’s more than capable of bringing this program back. Mullin had absolutely no coaching experience before coming here. Totally different situation with Jackson. He would be a flat-out terrible hire.
The selection process needs to be outsourced. Cragg is not up to the task as he is too far into the bad hire Anderson.I have no idea how the SJU selection process works but it is very clear it is a total failure. After thirty years of incompetence it is time to change the procedure. As obvious as it is that Anderson is not the man for the job it is more obvious that SJU is incapable of raising the sinking ship.
Perhaps an outside search firm should be hired to make a recommendation but anything but the old guard. Not only do we have a coach who is way over his head in the big east but he will walk out with an extension. You can’t make this up.
A lot of flatulence is new variant symptom? One good thing about the blowout. I woke up with a stuffy nose and a fever and feel like crap, so all the posts have kept me somewhat distracted from how I feel. The good news is that my wife and daughter, who have no medical training, have assured me that I don't have Covid and don't need to go to urgent care. Plus my daughter has only 1 at home Covid test left, and as an only child, doesn't like to share. So I have to take their word for it. At least I have no loss of taste and smell, so I have that going for me, which is nice.
Agree 1000%!! I’ve said many times on this board, give me shooters any day of week. You can teach defense, you can zone , matchup or change defenses if you have shooters but are not that athletic. But, the whole object of the game is to put the ball in the basket. So, give me guys who can do that and I’ll figure out the rest as a coach. But, if you can’t put the ball in the basket and shoot with any consistency you can’t win with any consistency. We have nobody on the roster who can bang down shots with any consistency. We don't have shooters, and that exposes every weakness we have. Make shots and moral goes up. We have two outside shooters, and one of them gets very little time on the court.
Execution is not the only thing Section 3. It’s our style of play. We have a schoolyard, chaos aggressive style of play which never changes and is not even tweaked based on the opponent. Even within this type of system , you can tweak things and make certain adjustments within the system in order to take advantage of the other team’s weaknesses or to avoid there strengths so we can be more efficient as a team. But, we play the same system with absolutely no adjustments based on opponent no matter what. That’s what makes it so easy to play against us. CMA plays one way and one way only with no tweaks or adjustments based on opponent regardless. The truly disheartening thing is it isn’t just a case of not executing well, which can turn around. . we’re not even trying execute things that are worth executing…as a result, we are totally dependent on having a hot hand
Hurley was the answer, but to this day I don’t know why we did not offer?But...CMA was the answer!!??
