@Seton Hall, Sat., Dec. 31, Noon, FS-1

One good thing about the blowout. I woke up with a stuffy nose and a fever and feel like crap, so all the posts have kept me somewhat distracted from how I feel. The good news is that my wife and daughter, who have no medical training, have assured me that I don't have Covid and don't need to go to urgent care. Plus my daughter has only 1 at home Covid test left, and as an only child, doesn't like to share. So I have to take their word for it. At least I have no loss of taste and smell, so I have that going for me, which is nice.
As one who is presently infected with Covid and unwittingly gave it to my entire family for Christmas, I can tell you that loss of taste and smell is no longer a common symptom. Get that test and isolate from your family if you test positive. Feel better!

Inappropriate behavior
It is painfully obvious that this team is poorly constructed and, other than David Jones, Anderson did not bring in the comparative talent we lost.
First, Anderson made the team smaller. Posh and Curbelo are barely 6 footers. Montez Mathis is a 6'4 guard and David Jones is 6'6.
Last season we had Champagnie at 6'8, Wheeler at 6'9 and Soriano at 6'11 as our front line. Mathis, Wusu who are both 6'4 were bench players. Stef Smith was solid as the two guard and fit better in the backcourt with Posh.
Heck, we even had Tareq Coburn off the bench at 6'5 who was a better shooter than anyone we have now coming off the bench.
In short, we the fans were duped into thinking the additions of Storr, Curbelo and Jones were an improvement.
The fans have been awarded with smaller seats and beer.
In the end it's the same shit, different year with mediocre basketball, an old hot box of a gym, an uninvolved student fan base and more questions rather than answers about the future of the program.
I am hopeful Father Shanley can make a difference but he may be too focused on turning St. John's into another woke university than a traditional basketball power.
To the moderators: I received a content warning for the above post. I would be more than happy to modify my posts according to site guidelines but this warning is completely perplexing without pointing out WHAT exactly was "inappropriate".

Uh.....it's pretty obvious why it was flagged.

Not sure the fans were duped. This team had a slew of concerns(lack of outside shooting, could Posh/Belo coexist, etc, etc) heading in to the season. The notion that this team was highly talented and deep was farcical from the get go. They showed nothing during the cupcake portion of the schedule to alleviate or even lessen those concerns. While I wasn't expecting great things from this team, I also wasn't prepared for things to look as bleak as they do now. I don't feel duped, since I never bought in to all the hype anyway.
It seems my using the word "duped" has hit a wrong chord here. I was referring to pre-season comments by the staff regarding the talent level and returning to the dance.
Now everyone is pissed and dancing around excuses for the lack of cohesive play.

Fair enough Rocket. I just never bought in to any of it. To me, it's was all a bunch of "coach(and AD) speak". Much of it, especially from the AD, meant to solicit donations

He's got good dribbling skills. That's about it. His passing, shooting and decision making leave a lot to be desired. His defense is erratic at best. He's small and not particularly strong, so he can easily get muscled snd posted down low. IMO at best he's a 6th man(that we're he did his best work while at Illinois) who can give a team a burst of energy when he comes in. He's not a starting point guard on a good team.
He is a great passer, one of the best we have had. It's his decision of *when* to pass and to whom to pass that is the problem.

Is this "code" for something? I just sent my post to three fellow fans not on this site and they are as perplexed as I am. If you can't point it point then I think your answer is partially correct.

Geez, you must be kidding.

You used a CURSE WORD!

I have underlined and bolded it. Is there anything else we can help you with today?

But that was my point that seems to have upset some here and gotten me 2 points in the hole.
Most of us were hopeful hopeful because we did not know how toxic the Curbelo signing would become to Posh and his game. He played Posh at the two and moved Mathis to forward.
Talk about playing guys out of position!!!!!
Jones is exactly what he was at DePaul and that is fine but he doesn't have a Champagnie or Wheeler to play with and Mathis is a bust at small forward.
There is no silver lining on the horizon as a result and I fear things will turn ugly as is becoming obvious with many of the comments calling for a mid-season firings of coaches and AD and nit-picking words or comments on red.com.
Chill out everyone!

Think your woke reference was taken as political commentary.
INCREDIBLE!
One fan said S@it and you say woke.
I have seen much more negative comments here, especially in reference to players and coaches.
The word shit has been used on this Board since Maher first coined it in 1989.
The word woke is a current day term used to describe "newly aware" as in becoming awoke from past academic sleep regarding curriculum development and content.
It is a "social" comment and was in reference to the criticism Father Shanley received from some critics while at Providence near the end of his presidency and which is, according to some, the reason he ended up at St. John's.
Hopefully this site doesn't implode over verbal nonsense as the season progresses but now we know to be prepared.

Better be careful, "progresses" sounds an awful lot like "progressives". 😂😂😂😂Gotta laugh or we're gonna cry.

I'm mystified by Posh this year. He's not even remotely what he's been. Complains about every foul, can barely make a layup, his midrange game is non existent. Careless TO's and his defense doesn't stand out, lots of bad fouls. It's not good, to say the least.
I can explain that in one word: Curbelo.
