Seton Hall Game

Game over. Now looking at an absolute must win on Saturday.

Agreed. This one was slightly more important for the Hall, then for us (though it obviously would have helped). Lose Saturday, and we could be pulling a "last year" all over again. Even with a win Saturday, 1-3 is not out of the question.

Neither is 3-1. We match up well with these teams coming up. Seton hall is a team built a lot like us with better players down low and they hit their 3s in a big game for them at home.

No it's not. This would have been big, though.

Even if we are 1-3, we could conceivably run the next seven BE games after that. Then, you're right back in the thick of things.

Our guys were out of gas 4 minutes into the second half. Even with a huge loss of talent we should give our starters a break.

I don't want a repeat of last year though. I don't wanna claw back to get into the race. 2-2 is my prediction. I think we will beat butler and providence but lose to nova.

At game. Hall played better. Their bigs were good and carrington gibbs and siena did a great job. We didnt match them. Jordan didnt exhibit pro talent. Harrison and green solid effort and opekpa did what he does. He has hands of rock on offense though. Hall is a good team. We need to play better.

Better team won today. Impressive job by "young" team. Positives;

No more we can beat Kentucky conversations
Ratings mania.
Contract extension demands :)

Better hold serve at home v Butler guys. Humility in order.

And that game is a pick-um Hope we did not string all those wins to string as many L in confr

Wa worried about this game from day one .Thought we should not be basking in our ranking until we did well in confr play Rasheed has to stay another yr To date he has not shown that he could take over a game and carry a team to victory Also feel can not see Obekpa making it in the NBA

Didn't like Jordan sitting with 8 minutes left in game. Absolutely shocked that the Hall's freshmen played as confidently against us. Delgado outplayed Obekpa, especially on the boards. Seton Hall played exceptionally today. We'll get them at home.

I give it up to Seton Hall. They got the rebounds when they needed it and hit some big time shots. Sina and Gibbs are nice. Willard did a fine job. Not our day

beating Nova then winning in PC would be a tall task....on top of beating Butler....i would sign up for 2-2 right now because i dont think we are beating Villanova.

Observations:
Can'€™t win with only one offensive threat, Harrison.
Carrington gave them a big lift in the first half (wasn't he a one-time verbal to us?).
Gibbs was unconscious.
That stoppage on the Carrington injury was wrong. We had the ball in the frontcourt on the attack. I'm a HS basketball official and you don't stop play until a dead ball whistle or the attacking team settles down.
We can'€™t let guys like Sina have success.
Obepka & Jordan are kidding themselves but probably leave anyway.
Pointer today?
Their freshmen are good!
We were gassed.

Disappointing loss. The worst was that we got right back into it and then didn't get over the hump. If DLo makes the two FT's and then we score its a tie game and perhaps SH would have begun to feel the pressure. But after he missed them we did make the bucket were down two and I thought we were still in great position to win the game. Thought it was a critical strategic error at that point to continue the trap. The trap was a high risk high reward move to get us back in the game. It worked. At that point the stakes for every SH shot had increased and there was a good chance the hoop would have started to look a lot smaller for them. So that's when you want to go back to your base D, make them work for every shot and have to make tough shots. Instead by continuing the trap we gave them opportunities for much easier baskets and re-build their confidence. Our staff did a great job coaching the team back into the game but, once there, I think they made the wrong call leading to collapse of the comeback. Of course if we'd played better earlier we wouldn't have been in that position. However, just like several games earlier this year (Minn., St Mary's) if the comeback had succeeded, the earlier struggles would not have mattered. You are what you score. Let's hope we score more than Butler on Saturday.

Road wins are very tough in this league. I think Whitehead being out helped them today like I mentioned before the game. Gibbs got more touches and I think Whitehead would have made more mistakes (first Big East game). Gibbs is just a fantastic player...savvy, skilled, smart, and clutch as they come.

Delgado is a beast. I thought he was only 6'7...but he looked like a legit 6'8.5. He is going to be a pain in our arses for years with Rodriguez and Carrington.

SH is a good team. They are a bubble team and could dance if they pull out some close games. The Big East is absurd this year. We can't get down every time we lose--especially road games. Take care of business at home, win 5/6 against Depaul, Creighton, and Marquette and we will be fine.

Saturdays game is huge, must win.
Lose that and we could be looking at 0-3

Are you bi-polar? Your fanaticism has made Marillac look like a downer in comparison, and you are ready to jump ship after one road loss to a quality conference opponent? SH is 11-2 with a top 30 RPI. There isn't a team in the top 25 other than maybe UK that won't lose on the road in conference to a team like SH.

Deep breaths, guys. 11-2...rub some dirt on it...protect the home court on Saturday to stay in the top 20. The only "must win" games are against Depaul because of what a loss will do to the RPI.

Everyone is allowed a bad game, and we haven't played really poorly like that since the first half against Franklin Pierce in the second game of the season. Hall on the road has been a house of horrors for us, so hopefully it serves as a wake-up call that nothing is going to come easy in conference. The only shame of it is that this was one of our better chances for a sweep.

Need to be prepared to see more of what Hall showed defensively - sagging off everybody but Harrison. SJU is dangerous when it's getting out in transition, penetrating, and acting decisively. When the paint is packed, we go back to those awkward hesitations (saw those for the first time since last year today) and having a difficult time getting in rhythm.

One thing that absolutely has to stop is the concept that this team is a pull-up jump shooting team. It's a low percentage shot to begin with which makes it particularly so for a group that doesn't shoot well from the outside. Again, teams are clearly willing to let everybody but Harrison fire away from 15+ feet, even Greene as he's only going to hurt you once every five halves or so, and that should be telling.

Bad job not adjusting to the ball screen 35 feet from the basket until the last few minutes. We were guarding Gibbs/Sina all the way out there, allowing them to rub off the screen and then play 5 on 4 downhill for easy baskets and open 3s. There is a distinction between aggressive and smart defensively.

Finally, there are a tremendous amount of awful officials in college basketball, but Jim Burr is a special type of incompetent. Both ways, every game. At one point Carrington threw the ball off Obekpa, who had both feet out of bounds, right in front of his eyes and he allowed play to continue. He's just guessing most of the time out there.

Don't think we were out coached today. Simply outplayed.

Delgado absolutely bullied CO. Lavin can't be worried about JDR picking up fouls because that's what he's here for. Should've left him in the 1st half after he picked up 2. CO could barely make it down the court near the end of the game.

Sheed, Sheed, Sheed. He kills SH consecutively going to the hoop, then he clanks a 3. Can't hit FTs. Euro steps the ball off the backboard. Hits Gibbs with the ball.

He is delusional if he thinks he can go Pro.

Hats off to SH. Delgado controlled the boards. Sina hit open shots. And Gibbs carried them.

We better play desperate against Butler.

These are my grapes are spoiled comments as I watch the game I DVR'd

The first half foul #2 on CO was a joke. Delgado held him off with an obvious left hand before the whistle on CO. You'd have to be blind not to see it.

The blocking foul on Pointer also a total joke. It was a clear offensive foul on Delgado.

We didn't play badly at all in the first half. On to the second half.

Oh, and I'm not jumping ship.

Losing a road conference game isn't the end of the world. It happens.

When it's the first league game of the year, you are favored, and the other team is missing a key player, it's a bad loss, whether we want to admit it or not.

We weren't favored it was a pick em. Let's bounce back against Butler. The future does look bright for SHU.
