Seton Hall Game

To me Jordan is NOT the impact player we thought he would be! He is not in the same league as Ennis from Syracuse. 5 star recruit, frankly I don't see it. Hopefully he proves me wrong!

Jordan is the best passer on the team but his lack of a jump shot means he will be a streaky, inconsistent scorer.

This team will only see a few more wins this season. They will be lucky to get 5 conference wins
how
How can you be a 5 star recruit as a pg and not shoot?

joe is your last name lavin that was the worst coached 2 minutes ever ..from the multiple time outs to the crazy fouling to no inbounds play it was insane but a win is a win
No Hope, I hear ya. Coach does screwy stuff. Thing is, it's like he is being sabotaged by his own players. He might be losing it altogether, but any coach would feel like he's entered the snake pit coaching these guys.

Wrong. A real coach would be winning with these guys.

Maybe your last name is Lavin.
I know it's nuts, but I really do think the players stink down the stretch of game.

We still can't close. A win is a win. We can't hit free throws when it counts, we would of beat cuse and penn state if we could hit free throws when it matters.

We still didnt box out well . One thing I hope every one on this board saw was how much not playing phill made our team better . He needs to only get 10 min a game off bench. Yeah we still gave up a 16 point lead but not having phill out there with those pull up jumpers and not looking for any team mates ever was better for the team .

Hopefully we keep pressing the way we did for the rest of the season. Other things that the team needs to work on in practice 1) boxing out drills 2) lay up drills 3) free throws

Doc Gimmler, former revered SJU trainer would say after a game like this " It was never in doubt; we had it all the way." For me it was one of the the oddest games I have ever seen SJU play. Half of it was a highlight reel of outstanding plays and the other half was full of unique and creative mistakes like I have never seen before.
These kids would be capable of making Red Auerach look bad sometimes.
Anyway its a win! WE'RE NUMBER ONE....(in a row)!!!
BTW I thought the foul with 15 seconds to go was a brilliant call at the absolute right moment. At worst we get the ball back w 15 seconds and a one point lead. All we had to do was play it out. What could possibly happen to screw up that thinking? Now I know how Coach Keady's hair turned white overnight.
Good win now we can get some more with a little less drama.

Out of all the things that happened in this game, the biggest thing I saw was the impact Whitesell had coaching at the end of the game. At every play stoppage or timeout, he was the one talking to each individual player as well as the team. Every free throw he was there telling a player what to do. It seemed like he has finally stepped up and hopefully gained Lavin's full trust.

Interesting observation! I was beginning to wonder when the acquisition of Whitesell would begin to pay dividends!

First of all Jordan is an excellent passer, had to have at least 7 assists tonight. We've been crying for a point guard who dispenses the ball. I do however want to see Rysheed do more penetrating and shoot the ball more.

I have to Agree w the stupidity of not holding a time out for the inbounds. We saw what happened against Providence when our ivy leaguer didn't use a timeout when he couldn't inbound. You have to prepare for that.Too many fouls and dumb plays at the end. I laughed when the announcer said Lavin was good at closing out games when winning. Sheed played well ,something like 6 assists w 1 turnover. Our bigs should take rebounding lessons from DLO. At this point I ll take the W.Only saw most of the 2nd half didn't see Greene what was the story w him. I did see that he had 4 assists.

Branch played a heady game hence Greene, who was consistently beaten by Gibbs, sat.

Did you notice near the end, when SH was shooting a foul shot, he put GG in to replace Branch for rebounding
When the FT was made, he tried to put Branch back in for GG to have another ball handler/FT shooter in the game
The refs wouldn't allow the substitution - rightfully so!!!
Does anybody on that bench know the rules of basketball?

What was Lavin doing sitting Sampson at the end of the game? I know he had 4 fouls but we needed offense, probably say he was saving him for overtime. God help me!
You may disagree with me but Pointer should not have gone after the ball at halfcourt with seconds remaining. He played his usual aggressive game but could have cost us with one of his dumb fouls.

Also did anyone see Jordan give Whitesell the cold shoulder when he was taken out the game in the first half? Whitesell was pissed

I agree Sampson should have been in at the end

The Lavin knocks keep on coming, But if any of the players makes a play the game is over. Finally Pointer does. Our best player down the stretch. Anyone want to talk about how much Branch, Harrison, Jordan or any of the guys getting it done to lock up the win? Only pointer. Who else, who? Congrats to Steve for winning a game with guys dying to give it away.

Who made the decision to throw the ball downcourt with 4.9 seconds remaining? Lavin or the guys dying to give it away.

Did anyone notice Ndiyae not smiling ? Looked like he is thinking of transferring

Keady after the game said Dom did it on his own .

Yes, I was wondering what was going on...Whitsell was yelling at him and then finally gave up and, I believe, waved his hand at him...

That said, I am still not sure why Jordan was yanked so quickly

Jordan caused a misdirection at mid court and Pointer knocked it away, Pointer was pushed and fouled on the play,
can't expect a call though.

and if dom doesn't strip the ball away and they get off some miracle shot that goes in and wins it, you'd be asking why Dom wasn't being aggressive and how could he let someone get a shot off. . There's no winning with some of you. . even when we actually win and a good defensive play was made

Jack,
C'mon. That was caused because everyone was covered, which was caused because we should have speedy guards on the court at the time. We couldn't call time out, because we burned our last one, calling it before Seton hall would have called TO to set up a three point shot. I think it was Pointer who inbounded, and he figured rather than a 5 second violation to throw it long and if it got intercepted it would take a few seconds to get the ball upcourt and subsequently a wild shot
