Sacred Heart, Wed., Dec. 6, 7p, CBSSN

One troubling stat is that Jenkins has taken 20 more shots than anyone else on the team. He is 2nd in minutes played. Also shooting just under 40%. Despite the knocks on his selfishness, he is averaging 5.5 assists per game even though he plays under 30 minutes per game. He can pass, but I still look at him as a shoot first guard. Expediting Wilcher's learning process will help the team later in the season.
One thing to note is it is often Jenkins who has the ball at the end of the shot clock and has to create his own shot. This accounts for some of his "extra" shots.

fun game last night- ended up Ubering - easy.

Takeaways:
-Elitist comment... first time in a bit i havent sat in the seatbacks... how does anyone over 6'0 sit in those seats.... its awful- rather stand the whole game.
-10$ for Coors Light... so happy they have beer now... but cmon...
i think the IPAs are $15 but I’m so happy that they have beer I’ll gladly pay. One of our 114 crew just sent us this it’s hilarious

lol saw that on Twitter - it's wild the lack of room. Cragg or whoever is in charge of Hospitality needs to be made to sit the entire game in row B or above. Row A allows you to extend your legs past the railing.

I sat with friends and family of Brendan McGuire who played for SH. One guy was over 6'5 and had to stand up top. It was embarrassing. Just remove these kiddie seats already!!!

I’m 6’4 I’ve feel your friends pain . I’ll gladly sweat it out upper level compared to those seats

This guy was a similar rated recruit to Simeon. Willard is forced to play him so much because he didn't recruit the transfer portal well. Look at the shooting percentages. Simeon will come along fine in a less forced role.

Hard to take much from this kind of game, but it was good to see Soriano pick up 6 assists. We will need that from the front court the rest of the way because we don’t get many drive and kicks.

Wilcher disappointed slightly. I like everything Dingle does on offense and just which he got more chances to handle the ball.
Agree re: Dingle…think offense should run thru him and Soriano most of time.

I’m encouraged by Wilcher…think he is showing more confidence and is already demonstrating the potential to be a great ball handler and passer

He is not playing like a four star frosh. Posh as a three star played far better. It’s not even close. I agree he has potential. Disappointing so far.
Posh was very good Johnnie, played well as a freshmen and brought excitement and hope to Johnny fans. But, lets be fair he had more opportunity to grow and play through mistakes - averaging 31 minutes as a starter from day 1

What I absolutely love about CRP is that the final score is far from the only metric that he assesses the game. How did we do on defense? Were there lapses, blown assignments, failure of individuals to play as a unit. How did the ball move on offense? Did guys shoot off good looks? Did they make the pass that leads to a pass that leads to an easy shot? At one point we had assists on 19 of 24 baskets - that had to please Rick.

Regardless of score it is slowly coming together. Every minute on the floor for zuby, wilcher, and brady are opportunities to be battle tested when conference play starts. That's more important than 35 point wins.

If I go the the philarmonic all i care about is hearing beautiful music. For now, watching this team improve game by game, is enormous fun and purposeful.

How good will we be? I don't know, but I do know they will be better than today.
Up 30 last night he was still coaching and didn’t let up on the guys

More of a bulldog guy than cocker spaniel.

Jenkins entered the game shooting 38% from the field and 27.3% from deep. He was 0-6 in his last 3 games and 4-22 since Stony Brook.

All the criticisms of him are that he plays too selfish and doesn’t even give his better scoring teammates a chance on too many possessions.

He responded by shooting 3-10 in the first half against the 276th ranked team in the country. TEN shots in a half from a guy with those shooting %s is absolutely insane…even worse when Soriano and Dingle aren’t missing good looks.

I’ll stop complaining when Dingle gets 20 shots. Until then, Jenkins is one of the most frustrating players to ever put on a St. John’s uniform to me. He shooting 18% against everyone besides Stony Brook and Sacred Heart.

Oh, and 0 FTs last night for the 5th time this season.
Yeah you are right, I said before that Jenkins is the Human Peter Principle. He keeps trying things until he can't succeed and then stays there. He is a good player to be sure but needs to think "pass first"

The downhill consequences of Jenkins taking 10 shots in a half are forced shots from Dingle and Alleyne. To say he has no conscience out there is an absolute understatement. He has no awareness.

When Dingle, Alleyne, or Soriano touch the ball it stresses the defense and creates better looks for everyone else.

I guarantee you the scouting report for every Big East team is to let Jenkins shoot and drive all game. He won’t draw contact or get to the FT line so what’s the damage there? He doesn’t draw doubles or help, so you can play everyone else straight up.

Alleyne gets one great look a game and it’s usually from Wilcher like last night on that beautiful drive and kick. I like Wilcher, but he was disappointing overall last night.

The last thing I’d want to see as an opposing coach would be Dingle and Soriano in the pick and roll.
Let Ledlum drive is what you meant to say, right?

Man, we disagree...yes he is a freshman but look at what other NBA level guys do as Freshmen. Granted he has CRP in his corner but he also has so...many.. mistakes. We have had a lot better frosh performances for guys that weren't UNC recruits. That's not to imply anything negative I just need to see a lot more
