The Maui invitational is in 2 years, not next season. So that will be after those guys senior season.
We've been to Paumanok before and like their wine.I've recently discovered some excellent Reds from upstate NY. Better than the name brand stuff you get off the shelf in the local stores.
McCall's Winery on the East End was voted best winery in NY State and honored by Cuomo. Their 2011 Pinot Noir and Merlot were both double gold winners.
They are a small winery and it might be hard to find their wines. I just made a trip out there last week, the Pinot's pricey at $60 but excellent and will cellar well for a few years. The Merlot's both the 11 and 10 were more affordable and quite good. For whites try Paumanok, their Chardonay and Reisling's are always reliable. The Reisling was best-in-state for the second year in a row.
It's not a local wine but if you like Pinot and don't mind paying $60+ for a bottle to enjoy get on the list for " Williams Selyem. Their winemaker Bob Cabral is kind of famous for how he works with Pinot and was winemaker of the year 2 years ago I think. It was their winery in Sonoma that I got engaged at last year
BTW Glad to hear Jordan is still with the team oh and back to wine for a second Jordan Cabernet is pretty awesome also
Thanks for the info, but given the choice I'm going to support the North Fork producers.

More poetic waxing about the Maui Invitational: ESPN's Eamonn Brennan| | Matt Norlander for Sports on Earth
"...The Red Storm should have Christian Jones, Felix Balamou, Max Hooper and David Lipscomb on the team; it is possible that current rotation players Chris Obekpa, JaKarr Sampson and freshman Rysheed Jordan would be on the team as well, if they do not pursue professional opportunities.
But with the class of D`Angelo Harrison, Phil Greene IV, Sir`Dominic Pointer and Jamal Branch all leaving, the Red Storm will look markedly different than today's Johnnies... possibly including a new class of high-level recruits, judging by the staff's focus on the 2015 recruiting class
Christian Jones, Felix Balamou, Max Hooper and David Lipscomb??????????????
That is one scary effen scenario!!!!
IMO, none of the other players will be here in 2015.
So, in 2015 we can resurrect the " we are the youngest team" mantra. LOL!
We better sign a top 5 freshman class or hope we play Chaminade twice.

Sampson, Jordan, and Obekpa will all be back next year. I think all three will be back in two years, but I'd be shocked if we didn't being back 2/3 (assuming no transfers). Jordan isn't even a consideration for the draft this year at this point, and it would take a ridiculous season to get there.

Yes
And so certain posters (not you) don't jump down my throat I don't agree with what their choices may or may not be but that's the nature of the beast.
If you recruit Top 50 kids they have an eye on the next level and usually its less than 4 years. There are many kids who declare and either aren't drafted or drafted in the 2nd round and become forgotten stories. Not saying it will be all this year or all next but I think its being a little blind expecting Chris and Karr to see their Sr years and Jordan to see his JR year.

I appreciate your eternal optimism! You are a true homer and you get a special button to wear here on redmen.com! LOL!
Now I do not want to get your bloomers all twisted about my comments being Lavin bashing, after all when I comment about our declining national presence in recruiting I am supposedly bashing coach but some here who also lurk on JJ, where the latest topic is "Rating the coach", seem free to give our coach barely passing grades. To your credit, you were fair in your grade:
"He has recruited the caliber of player that has not considered St. John's for a decade, and that cannot be ignored. I give him a complete pass for year one with all the freshmen, and I think he did fairly well for such a limited team last year."
Just as side note to the above, his first year was with all seniors and last year he did well until early December when he redshirted a needed player for no reason and gutted his scoring with the Harrsion suspension. As for his recruits, well, in year 2 a third did not qualify, a third have since transferred and the other third are underperforming. Yes, I too would have given Lav a B- but only because of his personal tragedies and not his coaching thus far.

I would venture to guess it plays out like this -
Sampson - likely leaves after this year. If for some strange reason he stays, he will leave after next season.
Jordan - from what I have seen so far, it is impossible to predict. I expect him to be back next season and can't venture a guess on 2015.
Obekpa - I expect him to be here in 2015.
This leaves a best case starting lineup for 2015, before recruits
Jordan PG
Balamou SG
Hooper SF
Jones PF
Obekpa C
Lipscomb sixth man
Lets assume we sign DeLarosa and another marginal player in 2014.
Jordan PG
Balamou/Marginal Player SG
Hooper/Marginal Player SF
Jones/DeLarosa PF
Obekpa C
If Jordan and or Obekpa leave it will take a strong 2015 recruiting class (Briscoe/Diallo) to replace them.
Yes I know a lot can still happen but these are my thoughts.

You can't be serious considering Lipscomb as a 6th man @ SJU. If that's the case Lavin might as well pack his bags before that season starts.
Also, Sampson is 100% going to NBA after this year unless something terrible happens (injury)
