Rysheed Jordan

I've recently discovered some excellent Reds from upstate NY. Better than the name brand stuff you get off the shelf in the local stores.

McCall's Winery on the East End was voted best winery in NY State and honored by Cuomo. Their 2011 Pinot Noir and Merlot were both double gold winners.

They are a small winery and it might be hard to find their wines. I just made a trip out there last week, the Pinot's pricey at $60 but excellent and will cellar well for a few years. The Merlot's both the 11 and 10 were more affordable and quite good. For whites try Paumanok, their Chardonay and Reisling's are always reliable. The Reisling was best-in-state for the second year in a row.

I see you share the Maven's love of wine (although I don't think he would be caught dead drinking that crap) but are you suggesting that we bury this topic by getting boozed up?

I haven't really been a wine guy but as I get older, I enjoy beer less and less. Also, it does nothing for my figure. I have to check out some of the vineyards on the east end.

I hear you red! It is the gas and burping in bed that becomes a turnoff to our partners. When you are young, especially in college, the girls are usually more drunk than the guys and do not even notice or care but the older ladies are more refined.

.... any update on Mr. Jordan's termination from the St.John's program?

We usually make a stop at Paumanok. I haven't tried McCall's.

They're a Iitttle further east on the south side of the road, but make sure you call in advance as their off season hours are limited.

Otis, you have wandered into the Travel & Leisure section, where we discuss beer vs wine and sarcasm is always welcome. For a college basketball discussion, you will need to look elsewhere... (just kidding, of course).

I can assure you the answer is a resounding yes.

The ancient Greeks thought of beer as a swinish potation better left to the barbarian.

Wonder if it all ties in to the decision of keeping Sheed away from the media. Is that the standard policy for freshmen?

Some coaches like to keep their freshmen away from the media. I remember John Thompson, Jr. doing it. I believe Dean Smith did the same. There are probably a few other coaches throughout the nation who also probably goes use this practice.

Heck, during the NCAA playoffs John Thompson, Sr. would house his kids a distance away from their game location. In addition he would not allow any of them to speak to the press.

@NYPost_Brazille: I'll say this about the Rysheed Jordan situation: St. John's has done a phenomenal job keeping it quiet. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Source: Rysheed Jordan suspension was "small stuff" and he is happy at St. John's, not looking to transfer FWIW. #sjubb

Silence deafening?

he later responded to an individual stating he doesn't think he is leaving.

So there should be no reason that he's not on the bench in uniform, and back in the lineup in some way shape or form.

We've been to Paumanok before and like their wine.

It's not a local wine but if you like Pinot and don't mind paying $60+ for a bottle to enjoy get on the list for " Williams Selyem. Their winemaker Bob Cabral is kind of famous for how he works with Pinot and was winemaker of the year 2 years ago I think. It was their winery in Sonoma that I got engaged at last year

BTW Glad to hear Jordan is still with the team oh and back to wine for a second Jordan Cabernet is pretty awesome also
