nothing is 100% and if wisdom rules out he'll wait another year. He'd have done better in last year's draft than this. Even if he has a great year, another year and his stock will go way up and he won't be trying to compete for scraps in this monster draft.

Agreed. Currently NBAdraft.net has Sampson at #90 and Obepka at #94, and they're usually pretty accurate.

I wouldn't even extend a summer league invite to Sampson at this point...forget a second round pick. It would be a waste of time. He has no perimeter skills to speak of and his body is at least a year away from being ready to do anything in the NBA. He has shown that he cannot handle the ball like a wing, shoot the ball like a wing, that he makes terrible decisions way too often, and he has not proven that he can adquately defend the three. He's not an 18 year old freshman...he's already three years removed from his original high school graudation. Every passing year his ceiling falls lower and lower. CJ Fiar is FAR more skilled and the same size, and Fair is a late second rounder who has fallen in his projections every year.


http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2014/ has no Sampson in their 2014 Mock...not in round 1, not in round 2. In fact, no Johnnies are projected in either draft. Next year, Jordan isn't mentioned.

CJ Fair is a 22 yr old Senior. Jakarr is a 20 yr old Soph. What is your point?

And CJ Fair is a perimeter shooter who would project at SG as a pro. He's not a legit 6'8. MCW was taller than him. CJ is supposed to have a better outside shot at this point in his career. Confused as to why you even choose CJ to compare him to.

And since you did, Jakarr put up 15 & 7 as a freshman. Took CJ 3 years to see those kinds of numbers.

The pessimism on Jakarr here is crazy. For all his lack of skills that you mentioned, he had his best game against a Too 10-caliber team in Wisconsin. Do you think scouts are really going to pull his game tape against Monmouth?

Pulling up a mock draft in November is not indicative of whether a guy will get drafted or not. Good barometer but that's about it. CJ Leslie was supposed to be a lock 1st rounder last year. Lottery potential. Went undrafted.

I think Andrew Gaze was 70 when he led Seton Hall to the Final Four. Wasn't Larry Bird a 24 year old senior?

I hate to think Jordan is really dumb, but the rule is a pretty simple one to follow.

I'd love to say it's a ridiculous rule, but it's there to keep kids from saying something stupid that can blow up in their faces. And if Jordan been writing vulgar stuff, it just validates the reason for the rule.

Kids will be kids. Kids are vulgar just like coaches are vulgar.

I think the rule is foolish.

Rather than banning them from social media why not allow them on but don't allow it on game days or tell them the importance of the fact that they represent the university.

I'm sure whomever is charged with making sure kids are showing up for class, etc. also has all their known social media bookmarked and runs a weekly check or so to see if kids are following rules. It would take literally two minutes to click and scan the bookmarks. Derrick Wrobel?

I think you are an idiot if you don't know the proper time to be vulgar, though.

I say some of the grossest, most immature stuff imaginable, but I say it in front of college friends I've known since 1989, not in front of my bosses or my daughters' teachers. And I knew the difference when I was 18, so i don't think the kids will be kids thing flies. Should be amended to say dumb kids will be dumb kids.

That is when you step in and teach them discretion and hope they learn and mature from it.
