Rysheed Jordan - Stay or Go?

And the best tweet of all...

@____whynot: Let's gooooo @Bsamp0 let's rock the garden...

Thanks SJU14
for those (me) who have no clue on tweets (I know eight track and reel to reel, copied Sherry, Runaway, the Wanderer and my early favorite the Duke of Earl on them - I might have to switch my favorite, "Duke" etc) who tweeted that?
@Bsamp - the player we are re-recruiting?
thanks
:)

@BrandonTierney: His mind is catching up to immense physical traits...No limits after summer in the lab with Mullin. Welcome back, 'Sheed.

@____whynot: NYC I COMING BACK......

Good. I hope it's true. For his sake. He can clean up his game and polish his skills - improving his chances for professional play down the road. Also gets closer to his degree.

I really liked his demeanor on the court toward the 2nd half of the season.

Archie Bunker is the incumbent BE POY.
Would anyone here bet against Ryheed garnering that honor next season?
BTW Gil, did you know this was coming?
With the avatar and all?
No
Paultzman you can't even help but be right even when your not trying. Maybe things are happening because of you! :)

Paultzman, you've been uncanny, so whatever you do, please don't -- don't! -- have a photo of Ted Cruz as your avatar. :(

Who, this guy?

GrandPa from The Munsters.

Also played a patrolman in Car 54.

Al Lewis was also a NYC hoop's junkie

Going to be an "interesting" season if Mullin allows social media posting during the year.

I think allowing Twitter and other forms of social media is important for this generation of kids. They view it as an important way to get their "brand" out there and I think blocking it is not helpful for anyone. Yeah, they screw up all the time, but in this new social media world that's an important lesson to learn.

In any event, with Jordan back it's game on next season!

Aren't coaches not allowed to work with players during the summer?

I understand no "formal" practices but can the staff do anything with the team?

Not sure if the rules have changed but coaches were able to work with players in limited fashion. Can't work with the full team but I think it was 3 players in the gym with only one coach at a time. Again this was 10 years ago so not sure if it has changed.

Al Lewis was supposed to be the guest at our "Late Night at Rubin Hall" show back in college, and flaked at the very last second. We announced to the packed house that he was unable to be there because he died. It was pre-Internet, so many kids were probably shocked to see his obit years later.

But back to Jordan, I think he gives us 17 ppg next season, which is a really nice piece to have.

Could be off but I want to say they put in a new rule where coaches could do whatever they wanted for 2 hours each week during the summer. Full practices for instance.

But lets be honest, these kids are at practice all summer at every college in the US.

I can see him with that number.
Problem is 50 ppg were lost to graduaution.

Yup. One of many reasons Sampson is so key. Strikes me as the type that can do 15ppg right off the bat, ala D'Lo. I believe D'Lo actually did more than that his freshman year, but just pointing out the type of player capable of scoring at this level from the 2 right away.

Still a lot of scoring to replace, but a lot easier to do so when you're starting back court can fill it up as a baseline.

50 Points - that's huge but I think it won't be an issue by mid-season.

I see us with a system that better creates opportunities to score (aka - actually running plays) with CM in charge. Maybe I am crazy but I see a lot screens and ball movement in the future. I don't have a crystal ball but I really picture CM running a tight ship and everyone knowing their role. Should be a fun season, especially if we land CD/BS/FM.

If I am overly optimistic I can live with myself for that flaw. :silly:

Sampson seems to be the kind that could put up those numbers. But the question is, how is he getting those points? How efficient is he going to be? 15ppg is great, but not if it takes you 25+ shots to get those points.

Lavin took the team to Europe two summers ago. I'm sure there are things that can be done with the team.

And Mayoral candidate, if memory serves me correctly. Met him some years back at his joint, Grandpa's Bella Gente. A true NY character.

Definitely need more scoring, but I'm optimistic it'll work out. Rysheed can score, I've only seen videos but Darien Williams looks like a big time scorer and if Mullin does manage to land Sampson, suddenly we've got a handful of weapons. (Does anyone know what Sima's offensive game like? I haven't really gotten a sense of it.)

I actually think Jordan can have a massive year. I think he can potentially lead the Big East in scoring but I don't think we want him to. Ideally he develops his game to where he's able to run an offense where we're not relying on him scoring a ton of points.

The NCAA allows you to take international trips during the summer once every 4 years.
