RIP Coach Carnesecca

Was at the game today and was disappointed they did not introduce former Lou players/coaches who were at the game today.

They made an announcement and said a welcome however when the camera flashed to the crowd, they showed the right section but not the rows the former players and support staff were sitting in. They briefly got another shot.

Should have had them come out on the court to acknowledge them.

There were a few other things they could have done but ….

During one of the timeouts they had Manetta on with the Hype Man and the cameras focused on Ed’s sweater.

I was told that at Sunday Supper with Looie about 85 former players would be in attendance. Not only weren't they announced, by and large were not part of video tributes. I was disappointed that at the very least they weren't acknowledged by name.

It wasn't the place for that at all, but there were dozens of former players at Looie's funeral. Some traveled long distances to attend, and it occurred to me there likely may never be a gathering like that again.

They weren’t close to that many former players yesterday but something more should have been done.

Nice tribute on Coach on Inside the Big East on FS1 yesterday.
It certainly was a nice tribute. I don't how many newer fans remember the Maven who produced a number of episodes of Inside the Big East back in the day.
He has had some bad luck of late ...... getting hit by car and now hospitalized after a fall. Prayers for you Maven.

And they know what formers players and staff are attending as our ticket office handles the requests. I know 5-6 of my former basketball managers attended in addition to players and staff.
That SJU85 guy is always waiting for them to call his name then when they don't he does an F U and goes and turns up the heat more

It is just starting to feel less like a legitimate celebration of Coach and his life and more like a fund raising opportunity.

The whole sweater swatch thing is perhaps the worst/best example. When you get down to it, the "lucky sweater" and the myth that we were rolling towards a national championship were both destroyed at MSG by Georgetown in one of the worst nights ever of SJU basketball.

In no way should that sweater symbolize 18 NCAA trips in 24 seasons, but maybe it should but not in a good way.

It could be worse. At lease we aren't selling swatches of a replica Shroud of Turin as the real thing. Even if, like the Shroud, the real thing might not be so real anyway.

Agree Beasts, went to that site and saw nothing of real interest to me.

I did not make the Butler game, however, I hope they sell the Looie figurine at some point, that I would buy.

I did not know about the recent fall and hospitalization. I expected to see him on Saturday at the game.

Prayers for Maven, yes.

If this is the same person I remember with that name, wasn't he banned here as he was extremely rude to me and many, many others. Insufferable as a huge know-it-all, sarcastic, demeaning and was horrible towards Panther (and others) if I am getting my facts straight.

Sure not wishing him ill regardless. Hope he gets better.

No, that was me. 😇

Not sure about the panther history, but the rest checks out.

That's him, to a tee. Never liked him. But certainly don't wish him or anyone ill health.

Yes, that is the Maven.🙂
Panther was not alone and yet, they attended all the same St. John's special events.
I remember Panther being at the St. Thomas Moore event for Lou over a year ago where Sam sat next to Lou in a leg brace after he was hit by a car......presumably not driven by Panther!😛😛😛
