Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

Incorrect, student managers and never drove Lav. After Tilton was gone, Lav used a private driver, almost exclusively with Wrobel a very occasional driver. That private driver would always drop the coaches at the airport and be there upon the late night return from charters. He also drove Lav to games at MSG and sat right behind the bench and was the only one given MSG credentials to park his Escalade under the Garden.
Good stuff.

I guess it is true what they say, “if the wall could talk…” because the walls of Alumni Hall has shared good information.😉

I looked at Brandon Tierney’s Twitter post and I was amused by the hate posts directed at St. John’s In the comments. People are sleeping on the “potential” of St.John’s. Of course, it is “justified” to the extent that the school’s incompetence put us here.

However, haters are going to hate when they fear what is happening. If you are “not worried” about SJU or don’t think Pitino would ever go here why would you put in the effort to post about St. John’s. I for one will be here for it but the school needs to get this done.

Mass murders gets tons of marriage proposals. There are a lot of sick people out there. That explains a lot of the vitriol and hate filled comments in all walks of our society.

I hope that the Johnnies get Pitino because he is a NY guy who would definitely win the press conference and bring a new level of excitement around the program. He is also a guy who could overcome the significant challenges to recruiting posed by the poor facilities and financial support. He probably could have gotten Brandon Willliams to stay home as well since he was so close to signing at St John's. I just don't see a mid-major guy , no matter how good he is, coming in here and turning things around. Xs and Os can only take you so far. You need to have players who can compete at the higher levels. That's what we saw when UCONN finally showed up in the second half and dispatched Iona who looked like St. John's out there. Mike's undoing wasn't coaching or style of play, it was not being able to close the deal on the recruiting trail with day one difference makers. Good luck in the search but to me it's Pitino or bust.

If its 5 mil then SJU has had some support from alumni. That on top of anderson 2 mil. How many coaches have we bought out jarvis, mullin, anderson. This guy will make that back and then some. None of our players entered transfer portal yet, now that is a telling sign. I firmly believe He is our guy to lose.

As part of the SJU negotiation team Father Stanley should include an architect, engineer and interior decoator to meet Rick's concerns about the status of facilities. MJM--your A/C issues could be addressed if Rick looks around CA on a hot day.

Zach’s hearing 5 million a year for Pitino. I didn’t see it posted anywhere but it was added to his article from yesterday
If that number is correct, then there is no doubt just about all of the “money people” are on board, including Repole.

Along with Pitino’s contract are the budget increases for assistants, recruiting, and NIL which will undoubtedly increase.

I can see PITINO situation same as the Greg Schiano and Rutgers football. Greg made Rutgers promise to upgrade stadiums, etc... before he came on board. I think this is going to be a similar deal. Take down the training facility and Carnesseca and build one hell of an on campus arena. Plus dont forget our Women's team just won their NCAA tournament game the other night, thats also going to help as well. (That game was a great game actually saw the tail end of it)

Seemingly so much smoke here it’s hard to imagine there’s no fire. All things considered, I generally liked the CMA hire. It’s a shame it didn’t work out. Getting Slick Rick here though would guarantee we have the horses and the jockey needed to win. Understandable Rick will want new stables and, while we aren’t in the stone age like pre Taffner, he would be THE catalyst for new upgraded digs. No doubt that’s part of the deal. Luckily we have a guy who likes ponies as much as he does.

Not sure that makes any sense. Pitino won't even be around long enough to enjoy the upgraded facilities. And if you bulldoze Taffner and CA then where exactly are they going to practice during the years it takes to complete the new facility?

Yea should’ve put a question mark in the title I guess. Didn’t intend to invoke bad karma or something like that, but the Fanta report seemed like it was an announcement I didn’t realize it reallt wasn’t

Why not think bigger!
Take down the Library and build a 20,000 seat arena at the center of the campus! Surround the exterior with the Library space on four circular levels of glass.
The $1 billion cost would be worth every penny when it is finished two years after Pitino dies in 2036.

That’s why the investment in NILs will be the driving factor behind Pitino. The NIL is even more important than the facilities.

There was an argument that once the school added dorms, it eliminated stipends which was a huge advantage.

St. John's leads all colleges in America with graduates who own their own Italian restaurants and pizzerias!
Even the preferred walk-ons would get a $10,000 NIL!
