Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

so that means if it is 5 mil plus andersons 2 we owe in theory we paying 7 min for a head coach lol. but a winning program worth every penny. Rememeber they are Selling the entire Staten Island Campus which hell a decent size house on SI is about a million.

Recall the post by insightful poster “Alumni Hall” a few weeks ago that said that AD Cragg completed an extensive study to upgrade athletic facilities which was presented to the Board of Trustees but the Trustees declined funding.

The point being that there is a recent facility upgrade study so if The Honorable Father Shanley desires to fund upgrades then the existing study may suffice …. just add 20% to the construction coast.
 
With the proceeds from the Staten Island campus plus a little cooperation from the stock market our endowment could exceed 1 billion!

Along with Pitino’s contract are the budget increases for assistants, recruiting, and NIL which will undoubtedly increase.

You make a great point that I hadn't thought of. Pitino is the type of big name guy with the coaching rep who could bring Repole back into the fold. That would be an even bigger impact on the program than Pitino IMO because in this new era, money talks and bullspit walks. A Pitino pitch with a low ball NIL offer on its own won't sway a 5 Star player being offered a high six or seven figure NIL deal to go play somewhere else. Get the money, get the players. This is the real world where everything is ruled by self interest. It's called capitalism and we love it right?

Exactly. I believe negotiations between Pitino and SJU have been going on for a few weeks. And, when Pitino was commenting to the media that winning is the most important thing to him, that was probably coinciding with a behind-the-scenes message to SJU that they need to identify a plan to be competitive with NIL. This is all encouraging.

Having a huge charitable event here at our community today in Venice and my wife has on a St. John's tee shirt. The guy running the event comes up to her and says, "You're stealing our coach". She looks at him and says, "The guy you want to talk to is my husband ". So I spend a half hour with this long ago Iona graduate. Not a fan of Pitino, figuring he used the school for his next job (no sh*t). Says he checked out the last few weeks once the St. John's rumors started. He was a big fan of Cluess. I said he took them as far as Cluess did, but he didn't want to hear. Says in general that the Iona blog he's part of is pretty down on Pitino. Showed him Red.fans and he was real impressed. Doesn't see PC as a viable spot for Pitino. He did admit it's just what St. John's needs!!

I rarely if ever get into Repole stuff, but I sense NIL $ assistance from him w Rick at helm seems fair to assume, even if there are other SJ relationships to rebuild. To Shanley’s credit and relentless approach, this is a potentially a huge needle moving potential development.
