Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

For years, even when they were out of the Big East, UConn has always been the team/school I see receive the most vitriol on this site.

So it is making me laugh that we now have a head coach who takes it upon himself to troll UConn 😂. Rick belongs here

It's also brilliant that they came out with the Birthday Party idea publicly. The BE leadership should understand and embrace Louie's significance in the growth of the conference. Turning down a request like this would be a PR disaster. Then Yukon can whine about it and be seen as a villain, or bow to Louie increasing the interest in the game, program and conference.

Unreal chess move. Our fans need to just hold up their end of the bargain and not sell their tickets to anyone who isn't a verified SJU supporter lol

Your post is misguided and juvenile on so many levels. What does act like a chick whining and crying mean? I have met the wives and girlfriends of more than a few posters on this board and have nothing but the utmost respect for them. Can't imagine them whining or crying because they are women, or to use your derogatory term, "chicks". My wife definitely does not cry and whine. She, like most women I know, can make her point clearly and succinctly.

As far as the refs are concerned, if they allowed Hurley to intimidate them, that is on the refs, not Hurley.
Concerning Coach Hurley I disagree, as a coach for young men he should lead by example for good sportsmanship

It’s one thing to work the referees but another to be a jerk. With your theory if a guy robs a bank and gets away with it

the police and fbi are at fault

In addition, SJU should invite the Head of the Coast Guard to honor one of its own who was part of the WW2 Greatest Generation, can't be many such Coasties left.

Hurley did not commit a crime, lol. Question, if Hurley had won that Championship as our Coach, would you be calling Father Shanley and Mike Cragg telling them they should not accept it???

I don't think he intimidate the refs, I do think that the refs might feel sorry for him, then make up bs calls in their favor.

All joking aside, Danny Hurley has actually been very forthcoming about his mental health struggles. Seth Davis wrote a great article on Hurley that is well worth reading. Hate him as a rival basketball coach all you want BUT he has been extremely courageous in helping to break down the stigma around mental health.

Must have been nearly impossible growing up in Bobby’s shadow. He somehow might end up being the bigger name when all is said and done.

I have posted this before, Danny Hurley is a good man who turns into a different person when competing, a fairly common occurrence in sports. The references to him in this thread reveal more about the posters than they do Danny.
That’s very deep HaHa ! It’s quite quite obvious in this day and age the effects of mental illness in society.

To blame being a bad sport time after time on his mental issue is a cop out. Is he not competing when he’s winning by 10 and

not acting like a jerk. Since he’s winning it’s OK but if he isn’t it not ? Than the act gets old real quick

I agree with this sentiment but the only thing I will say, I have heard from a lot of different people who have witnessed it.... what makes Danny Hurley unique in his on court craziness, is he spends a lot of time directly insulting and yelling at the opposing coach

Which is something I find particularly odd. I am not used to seeing that. Obviously in most sports (football for example) there isn't a logistical way for opposing coaches to interact during the game.

But even in basketball I rarely see a coach actually focusing much of his rage on the opposing coach. I find it super odd. And I feel like this is why Rick is kinda messing with Uconn quite a bit. He's not used to having a coach come at him so directly and is just playing his own mind games with him. I for one enjoy the back and forth, especially because Rick can partake in this but still have our guys ready to play.

Hey Logan, many, many coaches yell at refs, but none act like him. Crouching his knees and dlaring his arms, you freaking kidding me?

He has mental issues? Then there are meds you can take. Take your gd meds Danny.

Not trying to hear it, sick of that guys, it's every game too.

People can defend him all they want, good for them.

His public persona is very annoying but I have also heard he is a good man and I admire his public discussions regarding his condition.

I still like Rick tweaking him though.

So if he's aware that he has a condition, and I'm sure he's aware of how he's acting, then why not try to change how he's acting.

Whatever, I'm done with this subject.

He might be a great guy off the court, byt he's a real asshole on the court.
