Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

It is really hard to prepare to play one of Rick's teams because he has built an ensemble cast. Watch Hofstra tape and theres no Brady but Conway struts his stuff. Prepare for Taylor nailing wide open threes and he doesnt see the light of day. So you have to study 12 guys and not 5 or 6.

Throw in zones never unveiled before and other Billy Martin like wrinkles, and you get a sense of how Rick can get the most out of this squad.

Every kid has to be prepared to see 15-20 mins of action because it changes game to game on situation, practice, and how well a kid is playing.

We may or may not be a tourney.team, but watching all this unfold is light years ahead of anything we've seen over 30 years.

This is why there isn’t all the playing time issues. Pitino means it when he says the ones who play the best will play. It’s really fun to watch a well coached team.

Well stated kid. ;)

At this point I'm obsessed with getting out of my job and adjusting my work life balance to just life. Just gotta let get my wife to agree that my recent inheritance far surpasses what I'm going to make in the next 5 years anyway so I might as well just retire early. :ROFLMAO:
I retired in April, earlier than I had planned but it was time. I do some consulting right now on a limited basis. I might decide to do more, but not too much more I think.

I have definitely adjusted just fine and hope the same for you.

It's a bit of a catch 22 for me. I do my best(at anything) when I'm stressed, but I don't enjoy it because I'm stressed. I do enjoy the results but I don't enjoy the process. Unfortunately, I don't know any other way.
I would say obsession without a long term goal is madness. I was obsessed with building my business with the goal of retiring at 50. Old enough to understand the world and young enough to still be able to get out and enjoy it. I reached that goal a couple years back, and am the happiest I have ever been with my life.

Pitino needs to read this forum and talk to marillac to get a better understanding about his player.

Pitino on Zuby: “Very few players I’ve coached have the ability to bring it every single day,” Rick Pitino told The Post in a recent interview. “From the day he arrived, he has not had a bad day just from an effort standpoint. I just think he laces them up and he goes full bore.”

If the season was starting now, Ejiofor would “100 percent” be a starter, Pitino said.

Pitino on Billy Donovan: “I tried to get him to transfer but he wouldn’t.”

Pitino on Donovan sticking with his day trader job and not coaching: “You’re going to make a lot of money.” Pitino said. “Stay put. Coaching is not for you.”

Pitino on Soriano’s defense: “Abominable.”

“The next time he gets into a defensive stance will be his first.”

Mike Anderson had talent and could not get the team to gel. I’m glad father Shanley saw the truth about Mike Anderson. He was a nice person but a terrible coach.
Then he had the guts to get a great coach. The team is getting better and it has Pitno’s imprint all over it.
Regarding RP’s imprint, mentioned many times by the broadcasters on National TV. When we made a key shot or great defensive play, that to play for RP you have to be able to shoot and play defense. Good for future recruits to hear.

Remarkable

There is a reason CMA is gone, and his record vs. Quad 1 opponents as telling as any. I always hated that ridiculous stat on consecutive winning seasons, some with bad teams playing even weaker OOC opponents.

CRPs 2-2 in quad 1 games way too soon to gloat except to say no matter how this all pans out we are just light years ahead of anything we've had here.

We still have tons of work and lots of improvement in order to play March basketball. CRP will take it not just one game at a time but one mistake at a time.

Stay even. There will be disappointing losses and more exciting wins. File this game for when the lows occur. We are headed in the right direction and this is turning out to be one heck of a season.
