So anyone have an idea what the cost of parking, tix, and refreshments for 2 for the Hofstra game came to?

if someone lives on Long Island if they are taking train to msg it's about the same when you factor in buying 2 LIRR train tickets from Huntington. Actually UBS a little cheaper. Round trip off peak to MSG would be $52 I think. Round Trip off peak to UBS would be like $25

I don't eat at game most of the time so I can't say for sure if food is more expensive but a beer at msg when you include the tip comes out to $20 so I wouldn't say UBS is higher

Haven't attended a game at UBS but cost of a decent beer at Barclays (with tip) was about the same as price you gave for MSG.

This season, we are going to have Big East home games at 3 different locations. No one else does that, and I can't see it being helpful to the players.

If you can get to msg by lirr u csn get to ubs. If you drive to a nearby lirr stop you can get to ubs by lirr for 3.50. I live 2 miles away and about 100 people got on/off at the lirr train in my town going to ubs

Stubhub prices in the 100s started at $35. Bargain for major arena

If the product interests fans enough to check in here 30-100x per week and spend 2.5 hours watching on tv, if the product is that bad why waste your time.

Some food is expensive at ubs and msg. I sometimes dont buy food at games. Its not mandatory.

Complaining about prices i think is largely age based. Younger fans spend money more freely and are used to spending way more when they go out for food or drinks.

Just ask maher what he spent at Fig.. like 3x what i did. Lol
There are different logistics in taking the LIRR to games at MSG, Barclays or UBS.

MSG

The easiest since all LIRR branches can access Penn Station. The worst problem is you might have to switch at Jamaica (or Valley Stream if you take the West Hempstead Branch and they are running “shuttle service”) if the train you are on is terminating at Grand Central Terminal (“GCT”), Atlantic Terminal (”Atlantic”) or Penn Station (“Penn”)

Barclay

All LIRR branches have access to Atlantic with the exception of the Port Washington Branch where you would go to Penn and take the 2 or 3 subway or to GCT and take the 4 or 5 and get off at Atlantic Avenue (all four lines plus several others stop at Barclays and there is a way where you can exit right in front of the Arena). Otherwise you’d have to get off at Woodside, climb the stairs and go over the tracks to take an eastbound train to Jamaica and then switch to a train heading to Atlantic. From there it is a short walk to Barclays.

For the other branches, most likely you would change at Jamaica (unless there is a direct train) to a train (whether from another Branch or the Atlantic Shuttle) to Atlantic. You won’t have as many trains to Penn.

UBS

Port Jeff/Huntington, Ronkonkoma, Hempstead and Oyster Bay branches all have access to Elmont-UBS station which is considered part of the Hempstead Branch. Certain trains have it as a scheduled stop (all Hempstead trains stop there) while doing events, other trains have it added as an additional stop. For the other branches, you have take a westbound to Jamaica (or Woodside if you are on the Port Washington Branch) and then an Eastbound to UBS.

I don't really see how it actually would hurt players.
I would think familiarity with the court, the locker room, etc all goes into making it a "home" court advantage. I think it was Mullin who was upset that the MSG locker rooms weren't customized to St John's, so he made a priority of changing that. UBS can't feel like home to the players. It didn't even have the SJ logo at center court.

Update, I checked: It was Lavin who insisted that MSG locker rooms be customized to SJU.

On game days, the room is now converted into a personal space for the Red Storm.

“We have our own carpet with our own colors and emblem, nameplates that slide on top of the lockers, big leather chairs with the St. John’s logo, photographs of current and former players on the walls to cover the Knicks stuff that really cherries it out,” Lavin said in a telephone interview Sunday. “It would have felt like we were playing on the road or at a neutral site for every game and be a disadvantage for us, as opposed to for other teams.”

I got a big problem with skittles. My mom keeps a small bowl of them as soon as you walk in my parents house and also keeps a small bowl of m&ms same table same exact type bowl. mjmaherjr gets his day ruined reaching for the m&ms and accidentally getting a mouthful of skittles #majorskittlesissues
Wash 'em down with an IPA, it'll make it all better. ;)

He is obsessed, that is his make up.
Obsessed, super focused, what is the difference.
I don’t see any problem. Most very high achievers are obsessed with their work. The man is paid a fortune to do a job which happens to be highly stressful. He is laser focused and emotional and has done a very good to great job wherever he has been. I take my hat off to to him.

"Obsessed"? What a douche.
Obsessed is just a word that to me means I am putting all my thoughts and efforts into something. Maybe in todays culture where work life balance and everyone gets a trophy are what counts it’s a dirty word but frankly the most successful people I’ve known are all somewhat obsessed in their field. I don’t like UCONN but give me an obsessed coach every day.
