Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

Demand for tix is like real estate. Inventory that is lower than demand pushes demand higher. If our entire Big East season was in a small arena we'd win more and ticket demand would surge.

Beast - I don't think low supply pushes demand higher.

Demand is influenced by awareness, perception of quality, price, income etc.

Still think we're cuffed by Ticketmaster setting the price too high for MSG at this point in time based on our performance. With more realistic prices for decent seats we might better attract more potential attendees. Then as we prove we can win, demand will build and prices can be increased accordingly.

Rick Was born w mic in his hand and whether strategic or just blowing off steam, he attracts attention to a program in need of that. I think he would rather beat UConn at MSG than CA and is just prodding fans to come out to the Feb game. Even if UConn fans occupy a third of MSG, the atmosphere is still electric, recruits & players love it and the media juice is better. Victories over teams well represented in MSG stands through the years like Georgetown, Duke, UConn, Nova are still scintillating and attention getting. We want Broadway not Delancy St (CA) Rick & so do you.
Don’t forget the Pitt game with Hardy’s last second shot!

As many Saturday day games you can schedule at MSG will bring out passive fans from the City, like that Pitt game if team is making noise. Sunday day games could also work unless there is conflicting big time NFL action. Weekday nights at the Mecca are tough unless a big time opponent is in town.

When the parking is costs $40-$50, and you have the expense of the tickets, food & drinks, the quality of the product is reflected by the attendance.
If you can get to msg by lirr u csn get to ubs. If you drive to a nearby lirr stop you can get to ubs by lirr for 3.50. I live 2 miles away and about 100 people got on/off at the lirr train in my town going to ubs

Stubhub prices in the 100s started at $35. Bargain for major arena

If the product interests fans enough to check in here 30-100x per week and spend 2.5 hours watching on tv, if the product is that bad why waste your time.

Some food is expensive at ubs and msg. I sometimes dont buy food at games. Its not mandatory.

Complaining about prices i think is largely age based. Younger fans spend money more freely and are used to spending way more when they go out for food or drinks.

Just ask maher what he spent at Fig.. like 3x what i did. Lol

LOL. Fig was a big one. My New Years Resolution is to spend less at restaurants. 1 day in and I'm doing well :)

As far as UBS heck even if people were going from Mineola to UBS it's like 8 minutes and no way the conductor even gets time to get to your ticket unless you hop on in his/her train car.

I am going to advocate that we schedule same saturday noon next year right after Christmas with big Family day promotion for kids under 12 with cheap tix. That part of hofstra game was fun. Lots of families came.

My favorite meals were breakfasts at Toast! All day, another at 24 hr eggs or some name like that, and rodney scott bbq - massive amounts of good food

Of course it matters. If you give up your hone court advantage in the Garden when we play Villanova, UCONN, Georgetown or anyone with a strong enough fan base who buy 40-70% of tickets, at the end of a season you could be just one win short of an ncaa bid.

Don't you think Rick looks at our poor attendance and knows that we will have a tougher time winning at home than our opponents do on their home court?

Our home court record is 8th best in big east on the chart Paultz put up. 16-8 could easily have been 18-6 or better if a better home court advantage existed.

Yes Rick definitely has created a nyc buzz about our team. Enough to pry local fans away from big screen tvs?

It won't happen, but you can't win without a hone court advantage for all of your home games.

I think price issues vary by each fans financial situation. I know many young people struggling to pay the bills who have less disposable income than their parents. The parents still complain more about current prices though! Many times I don’t eat or drink anything at a basketball game, it’s only a couple of hours. That included Saturday. That is second nature to me though as there was no way my parents were going to ever buy anything for me at concession prices and old habits tend to stick.

I know the parking money was a big deal for folks but I agree the train was available. I paid $43 (weird number) but stayed until the final tip and was watching Creighton/Marquette on my couch by 2:25. I would have had to have world class train connections to beat that, and at this stage of my life I consider my time a more valuable commodity than money. I see both sides on that of course.

Perfect day to schedule UConn at Carnesecca. It can be the “Jolly St. Rick Classic.”

Bring an Amex Card to the next UBS game and I'll meet you at the Amex Lounge. You get admission for 2 people and a free drink each. So if Mrs Idraft doesn't want anything that's 2 free drinks for you. That was a great way to start the day for Happy and me. He was going to change his screen name to Real Happy till he saw the food prices in the hallway. Even that quick buzz wasn't going to cure that

Didn’t know that - thanks. No way Mrs IDRAFT won’t partake but I still get one free. Do you know if AMEX card got me a discount on the parking, I have one and force of habit used my Citi card for that.

No Clue on the parking but the Amex lounge is right almost directly across from 101. It's kind of like a speakeasy

I didn’t know that and I brought my Amex card which got me 10% off of my two drinks. I walked right by the Amex lounge. Next time.
