Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

if he stays at Iona im not coming to this site for like a week i can only imagine. How we lost to Iona. Im thinking Rick using this as leverage honestly, which is no wonder why the repole article came out yesterday i doubt Iona could offer him that money.
In order to drive salary it’s important to have choices. It doesn’t appear that Gtown, USF, ND, or Texas Tech consider RP among their top choices. Good news for fans of RP going to St. John’s for sure.

But, if we have learned anything it’s these two things, first nothing is certain with St. John’s until the ink is dry and second RP ain’t staying at Iona.

Really? You had to make this political? You’re lucky I’m not a mod here. As has been posted previously about you, your posts are laughable.
now you're making it personal on older people and political as well. This is a basketball forum. As far as Rick and coaching, Iona just went Dancing. IONA! In that Uconn game, they stayed competitive for 80% of the game, Uconn just had better horses I agree with tonyinfairfield

I am certain there will be a thread running simultaneously with Pitino’s presser.

I am also certain that some here will claim in no uncertain terms that his body language, cadence, and imperfect Windsor knot shows a lack je ne sais quoi, and further proves SJU waterboarded Pitino until he succumbed to Fr. Shanley’s ruthlessness.

In actuality SJU was a distant 10th of his places to coach:
1.Georgetown (family ties and Jesuit endowments)

2. Iona (loves living next door to his employer and will make them a national power

3. College of New Rochelle (same as above, with the added bonus of starting a program from scratch)

4. Providence (his heart is still there)

5. TX Tech (all that football and NIL money)

6. Norfolk State (they need a replacement for Robert Jones super ascending career as he takes over for Norm Roberts at KS)

7. Westchester Community College (JUCO is the only college level Pitino has not won and his detractors will always say it is a huge mark against his hall of fame career)

8. Iona Prep (what is more pure than teaching high school players fundamentals, while living next door to his employer)

9. New Rochelle High School (Pitino feels his penance is not complete as he wants to make the local public high school a national power, especially when they are overlooked by the bullies of the well funded Iona Prep)

Can you use words I dont have to google ? " a lack je ne sais quo " :)

Age has plenty to do with physical and mental ability. Some people take better care of themselves than others do, but our physical and mental abilities degrade for all of us as we age. I'll bet on the 30 year olds every time. Poster child for my point is Joe Biden.
A 60 year old Florida man just broke the world record for push ups in an hour by doing 3,264 so don't give me any guff about age and ability. I would like to see a 30 year old do that! I work out 5 days a week and, like I said, I'm in better shape than most 30 year olds. I keep my mind sharp by reading every day . I go through a lot of books. It's exercise for the mind. I play a lot of instruments and just took up guitar. Reading music keeps your mind sharp. Ageism is a bunch of malarky. Will I start to slow down? Someday but if you keep your body and mind sharp you will live a long, productive and healthy life.

You are all a bunch of snowflakes. You have conditioned yourselves and tied yourselves into weak minded pretzels.

You are apologizing for trying to run the basketball program like a real basketball program.

You are asking for forgiveness because you want to see the name “St. John’s” on selection Sunday.

Holy mother of all that is college basketball holy, this is business, not the PAL.

Sure Pitino — Pitino! — is going to finish his career at a one bid school because it is a safe job. What?!

If Pitino was built that way, he would never have left Providence in the first place. He took them to the final four. Talk about a safe job.

Buck the ef up.

The only positive is now I know who I do not want next to me in the foxhole.

The College of New Rochelle (my wife is an alumnI) is defunct (went bankrupt) and was absorbed into Mercy College. The New Rochelle Campus was purchased by the Masons and is now called to the Masonic Care Community of New Rochelle.

That would be a tremendous job of starting a program that might interest Rick though;).

The administration is all in and we will know within a couple of days. It is up to Pitino to decide and I fully expect to be rejoicing at the hire of our new coach.

Ever since I was a kid and would read about the old ABA teams that had folded(IE Oakland Oaks, etc), I developed a particular affinity for the word "defunct". Thanks for reviving it.

If the Masons are in charge, then that school must have more money than even the Jesuits.😀
