Rick’s Targets

Whether it is Ruben Prey or someone else from overseas (or Canada), it will be interesting to see how this will work out as there are no scholarships available and foreigner players are currently unable to cash in on NILs because of the type of Visa (Student) they use to be able to play in the US.

Assuming 2 people will be walkons and 1 won’t be Prey. Only way to do it really. Staff seems pretty confident so they obviously worked this out already with 2 players. Obviously next season they will be full scholarship players as we will have people leaving. I also suspect that possibly Sadiku Ayo, who we all thought was a head scratcher addition mostly due to the timing and depth at his position, might have been brought over knowingly as a walk-on for one year. It would make sense, if Rick and Co. always had a plan to bring more than 13 kids in.

Pretty sure staff is way ahead of the fans on this stuff.

Highlights starting at 2:30. The scoreboard is shown with 4:47 to go in the second half and Princeton up 11 when Bradley fouled out. Without Bradley, Michigan comes back to win it.

Thanks for posting this Ray, 1964-65 was truly an amazing year for college basketball. I was a senior in high school that year and made the trip to the Old Madison Square Garden as often as possible. Watched St Johns beat Villanova for the NIT Championship. Ken McIntyre was my favorite player on that team.

Princeton beat a Providence team with two friends of mine, Jimmy Walker and Dexter Westbrook to reach the Final Four in 1965 by 40 points. Bill Bradley was an other worldly talent in college.

I also remember sneaking into Alumni Hall to watch the 1964 Olympic Team tryouts. It was an amazing time, had some fantastic experiences during mu youth.

Does anyone remember the name of the Sporting Goods store underneath the Old Garden?

From a good source am hearing that Ruben Prey may be/is a done deal.
I wouldn’t be surprised by this. Pitino in an article yesterday clearly mentioned he’s bringing in 15 players, and mentioned overseas players etc. Most coaches wouldn’t comment on specifics concretely like that unless they had more than a notion about who they’d be landing.

Panther, are you referring to Gerry Cosby and Co.?

I don't think that was the name
Yeah, I only know them from the “new” Garden. I know you mentioned the “old” Garden. Before my time. However, I looked up Cosby’s and they existed in 1938. Of course, maybe they weren’t located at the “old” Garden.

Panther, I was two years behind you in high school and remember the Old Garden on Eight Ave and I think 49-50 Streets. The thing I remember the most is with cigarette and cigar smoking allowed, it was smoke filled in the nose bleeds where we sat.

Do you remember getting into games (even CBB double bills) with your school's G.O. (General Organization?) Card for $.50??

I think Cosby was the sporting goods store at the "new" Garden, not sure if it was at the Old Garden.

1965, a Golden Year in CBB!

Until Pistol Pete came along I never saw a better white CBB player than Bradley from Missouri. Later on to become a Senator for the state I moved to after getting married and leaving the greatest Borough Bklyn.

Prey evaluation from Portland Trailblazer scout -

Some of the video is absurd.

He was MVP of this u20 event (league?). The defensive potential stood out to me. And of the offensive end, aside from the skills, it is obvious he understands the game. Look how well he moves and finds space without the ball

Yep, .50 cents and subway tokens were .15 cents. At the Pizza shop on 169th St and Hillside you could get a slice and soda for .25. Those were some great days. Amazing, for less than $1.00, you had an amazing time.
How about having $10 in your pocket and hitting Friday afternoon Big Beer Happy Hours at Gantrys...then leaving a "few" hours later with plenty of money in your pocket to stop at Ed's Pizza...those were the days
