Rick’s Targets

Zach texted:
"The main targets we know of right now for St. John's with four open scholarships:
1. Penn transfer Jordan Dingle
2. Top-10 HS senior Mackenzie Mgbako
3. Kentucky big man transfer Lance Ware
4. UMass wing transfer RJ Luis
I also expect St. John's to potentially land a recruit from overseas"

So much for the “slow start” Pitino takeover of the sju program.

RJ has our backup 2/3 this year is phenomenal, especially considering he's got 3 more years of eligibility and has a ton of upside. In this day and age, I think of it like getting a top 40 high school recruit.

I'll take 1 and 2.
Than you very much, Zach.
The rest is gravy.

I don’t think Quinn will play much if any 3, but I do believe he has close to a full traditional SF skill set. He can bring the ball up the court, he can take 3-4 dribbles and pass or finish in secondary transition, he’s very controlled, and he can obviously shoot.

He’s a bigger kid and he doesn’t have the quickest feet. He’s got enough weight on him at 215-220 defend most fours effectively and rebound at an acceptable rate so that’s where he fits best.

I don’t think he’ll play any 5 at all barring a complete emergency and, to be honest, I even worry about him against monster traditional PFs. I think he’d look great in a platoon with a traditional lunch pale PF splitting starts based on the personnel of the opponent.

Let me ask you this, what differences do you see between him and Brady Dunlap other than 40 pounds and maybe a little foot speed?
easier last name to spell
