Rick’s Targets

Quinn A completely different build and more of a floor game as a passer. Slower feet from Quinn. Everything you say about his offensive game I agree with.

For me it’s who can you guard. I see no scenario where QS will play next to two bigger defenders and asked to guard the “3”. Especially with the guards and wings we are looking to add.

Agreed on the passing ability. I took a deep dive recently on Quinn’s tape and was pleasantly surprised. His handle and his IQ were much better than I thought. He looks kind of dopey but his interviews were impressive.

Who you can defend essentially defines your position. That’s kind of how I’ve always seen it. I think Quinn could defend Brady and other bigger shooters but obviously I don’t want him covering a guy like Taylor Jr. or a smaller third guard. I also wouldn’t him want guarding Montrezl Harrell or any of the giant PFs Xavier has rolled out over the years.

Compare that to a kid like Kyle Cuffe Jr. who I think could guard 3 positions at a vey high level.

We also have to remember that Pitino plays that complex matchup with a lot of man principles and the center calls the switches. Another reason why I don’t think we’ll see Quinn at the 5.

Look if he plays legitimate minutes at the 5 j think we’re in trouble. Same with the 3.

I just think there are plenty of college centers who aren’t built like sanogo or Clingan. I know last years BE isn’t the best example.

I also know St. John’s isn’t the best example but is Quinn less prepared size wise to guard the 5 than Marvin clark, Tariq Owens, or Josh roberts? Size alone, I don’t think so. At the very least, would you be worried about his ability to guard them?

Quinn isn’t playing center here.
