Rick’s Targets

I'm not trying to be a sh*t stirrer but I was thinking the same thing DK...if we get Dingle & Luis, does Coach have a discussion with Drissa or Keita, knowing Ware & possibly MM are coming or within our grasp. It's a tough call.

Well they've only got 6 days to enter the portal so everyone will know soon enough.

Maybe this isn't the best place to post this, so I apologize if so, but has Brandon Gardner chosen a school? I have heard very little about his schools and interest.

But what does the amount of time it took for him to develop into a top player in the conference matter? It happened. And your argument is against players coming from that level. He's the proof against it. Along with Souley Boum and a billion other examples from last year.

I understand the genesis of your point. You want high major talent, but we've seen that can come from anywhere these days
Boum wasn't quite the unknown quantity many mids are. He averaged 20 and 19 his last two years at UTEP playing over 30 mins per game in a high mid major conference.

I think the development issue is in context and response to guys who are expecting each of the new roster members to automatically adjust to the BE, play at or above their accomplishments at a lower level of play, and make this a top team in a highly competitive conference. For every Souley Boum there's an Adam Kunkel who takes time to adjust to the higher level of play night in and night out.

Totally agree . Alleyne is very underrated . He’s going to be very valuable to our success next season .

That very well could be true. But let's remember he very likely wasn't going to be a starter on UConn next year and was recruited over. Not a knock on him, just goes to shows what we're up against. Glad to have him.

I think it is much more likely he is the biggest kid on the court for a stretch then playing alongside two guys less prepared to guard the 3.

If we got Ware, you think we would see Soriano, Ware, Quinn at the 5/4/3? What other big combo could we have that would ever put him there with the other options on the wing and guard we will have?

I don’t think Quinn will play much if any 3, but I do believe he has close to a full traditional SF skill set. He can bring the ball up the court, he can take 3-4 dribbles and pass or finish in secondary transition, he’s very controlled, and he can obviously shoot.

He’s a bigger kid and he doesn’t have the quickest feet. He’s got enough weight on him at 215-220 defend most fours effectively and rebound at an acceptable rate so that’s where he fits best.

I don’t think he’ll play any 5 at all barring a complete emergency and, to be honest, I even worry about him against monster traditional PFs. I think he’d look great in a platoon with a traditional lunch pale PF splitting starts based on the personnel of the opponent.

Let me ask you this, what differences do you see between him and Brady Dunlap other than 40 pounds and maybe a little foot speed?

What’s also true is that he played over the junior version of Hassan Diarra who was ranked near the top 50 out of high school and someone we all wanted. Uconn has an embarrassment of talent at the 2 and 3.

Quinn A completely different build and more of a floor game as a passer. Slower feet from Quinn. Everything you say about his offensive game I agree with.

For me it’s who can you guard. I see no scenario where QS will play next to two bigger defenders and asked to guard the “3”. Especially with the guards and wings we are looking to add.

Yes, that is also true. We know he is BE ready, not necessarily BE star ready, but BE ready nonetheless.

If Dingle is ready to commit, and apparently hasn't made many visits, that has to indicate a good sign for us. Right?
I believe he commits here and sense next week seems likely. I have no clue on Luis and am pleasantly surprised staff is hanging on w Mgbako. Clearly staff checking out Plan B options if no Mgbako. That is all I got, go Forte!
