Covering my bases? Hardly. I’m one of few posters on here who’s dared to criticize the Great Rick Pitino. I’ve gone so far as to predict our win total next year.

I think one can be thrilled with the hire while remaining critical and expressing healthy skepticism whether anyone can turn this ship around. It’s called nuance.
 
I’ll trust Pitino till proven otherwise. But the “we’re playing 4-D chess this is all the plan” view is hard to agree with. Pitino must be surprised how much NIL has changed the game.

Here's what I don't get; if you think Pitino is such a terrific hire, why do you seem so down on him? I was not thrilled with the CMA hire, and I made it known and I laid out all my reasons why. If I thought Anderson was the right hire, I would have stayed quite and given him the time he needed to turn the program around. Rome wasn't built in a day, or a week or a month. I still think Rick reels in a few big fish, but even if he doesn't and even if we don't do well next season, I'm still 100% behind Rick.
 
Man this thread could really use a reboot. Hopefully that happens tomorrow with Glenn Taylor Jr., who is a top 100 portal player in the 80-90 range (higher than Noah).

He's obviously not as exciting as say Mgbako, but he's certainly a proven Power conference starter, which would be our third (along with Soriano and Alleyne). Jenkins I'd feel pretty confident about transitioning to the Big East, so that'd be 4/5 starting positions with solid depth. Again, nothing mind-blowing but everyone would be excited with Pitino coaching a veteran team. Combine that with hopefully a few top recruits signing in the Fall and we'll all be counting down the minutes until opening night.

The team was awful last year. No structure, no defined roles, terrible defense. A couple of the players were suspended for behavior issues.
I believe the team this year will be united and play within their defined roles. That the wins will be more than last year also because of having a leader that will maximize their efforts and produce victories.
All the people who are worried can express their disappointments and trepidations. But us who are encouraged can express our sentiments also

Criticizing Pitino right now is the equivalent of criticizing Picasso while he was in the middle of painting the Mona Lisa. You need to let the great ones do what they do best, and at their own pace, then you're free to criticize if the finished product calls for it. Edit: make that DaVinci lol

Worst case scenario if Rick does fail, he brings back the hookers and booze recruiting strategy and maybe includes all the red.fans at the next reunion!
