Rick’s Targets

No my kids inherited Knicks, Mets and ST John’s
Should have made them root for Yankees, Duke and wherever Lebron was taking talents to

And exonerating Pitino. Blaming some of you for making me believe that even he could roll in a stream of super talent.
Being a fan of SJU / Jets / Mets.... and a father of 3 kids under 5... this thought has crossed my mind... but then i realized... I carried the cross of disappointment for 25+ years (did witness a BE championship Live with my dad- so excluding that)...

No way futility continues for another 25 years right? - we are well on the right track with Pitino and Rodgers...

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I'm feeling that right now Rick isn't pushing to add more medium level talent because he's got some higher level talent that he's expecting to land very soon. If the higher level talent doesn't pan out, he'll still have plenty of lower level options available. So at this point, there's no need to rush to fill out the roster. Hope I'm right.

Definitely wishful thinking. You think Pitino invited all those kids to campus and is pushing them away?

This sounds reasonable and I too hope you are correct!

I don't think he's pushing anyone away, I just don't think he possesses the same level of impatience that, say, someone like you possesses. He's also surrounded himself with some shrewd businessmen, and I trust that collectively they are making smart business decisions which will result in us having the most talented team based on our financial constraints. Again, think moneyball not Stienbrennerball.

You're right Boo, he didn't, but both the transfer and recruiting landscape has changed markedly, more entrants, since their visits last weekend!
Lol.
I agree with Monte here.
All these moving parts favors the patient.

I definitely don’t think inviting more than half a dozen kids on official visits and having none of them pop so far is part of some master plan.

I also disagree with your money ball analogy, which doesn’t apply to basketball, particularly in this new world of free agency where many kids won’t stick around more than a year.

That’s not to say things won’t improve and Pitino may not ultimately succeed, but I definitely don’t think the recruiting struggles are by design.

But if we land a bunch of high level kids when all is said and done, then they weren't recruiting "struggles", right?
