Rick’s Targets

Yes, but what an unfair advantage he had over every other program in the MAAC given his background. It was the easiest thing ever for him to beat out similar schools. The guys was bringing in A-10 talent to the MAAC.

Deion had the same thing at Jackson State.
It was also the top program in the league before Pitino got there thanks to Cluess.

I’m thinking that the NCAA better fix the NIL sooner, rather than later. Maybe each school has to adhere to a cap, so talent can be spread out across all programs.
NCAA can’t (some might say won’t) put a cap on it as it is not the schools providing the money. If they could, they wouldn’t because they are afraid of other ramifications down the line. They don’t cap what a school program can make they don’t cap coaches salaries (what they make internally or externally) and they don’t cap a schools budget. If they did, those who want to unionize athletes or make them employees of the university would gain more support and traction and could negatively affect existing lawsuits that have yet been decided.

realize that every kid deserves their time to make a decision... let Rick cook...etc... i get it...

but was anyone else here expecting atleast 1 commit quickly following this influx of visits?
Yeah, I'd say most of us were, but this has become the Wild West $-NIL-$'s year.
So, goring forward, we shouldn't be surprised at whatever goes down, and 'guessing' and 'going out on a limb' may become the 'New Normal'.
Lol.

Hi all just wanted to throw this out from someone who's been following the program for almost 50 years and the last 20 have been mediocre at best(im being kind), we finally have the monster coach we all have pined for, so let him do his job, I've got 100 percent confidence that we couldn't be in better hands and I think we will all be very presently surprised by next year's on court results. In Ricky P we trust! Go Johnnie's.....
Thank you Tommy. Calm cogent post and yes, “Go Johnnies” 🏀🏀🏀

I love how folks say they are a little concerned with the lack of signing news. It brings memories of Frank Sheehan, DeNiro's character in The Irishman. He said "When anyone says they are a little concerned, they're very concerned." One is either concerned or not concerned--no middle ground.

I’m concerned we’ve had about five kids here the last couple days and not one of them was blown away enough to commit on the spot. Thus far we’ve signed five kids - three from Iona, one from VMI, and one from UConn. Now we’re all crossing our fingers hoping kids from Niagara and Umass come aboard. We’ve signed no HS recruits yet. I believe fully in Pitino but I’m not too pleased with our efforts thus far. I think a lot of people feel this way.

If that were they case they'd be posting about it all the time.

Did you watch the Irishman last night 😉
Nope but I've seen it about 5 times--great movie and the "aging" process was fascinating. A movie with 2 of our greatest actors of the generation (DeNiro and Pacino) will be a classic. While it did not win any awards it was nomonated fro a ton of oscars and Golden Globes.

Judging the transfer class based on the school they are coming from is idiotic.

I really wish Pitino wasn’t coach. Would love to see what the board would have been like with Claxton or Jones leading the way.
I think I speak for everybody when I say we all would have rather had Claxton, but the admin went in a different direction.

The board would have be much less lively because there wouldn’t have been the lofty expectations that come with guaranteeing someone 30M.

there also would have been a lot less talk about ‘culture’, ‘system’, and ‘basketball iq’.

I think we’d probably have up to 3 less Iona transfers to talk about.

So yeah it would be fairly different board.
