Those are not all "present" NBA players. Considering that Duke brings in like 6 McD's AA's every season, there hasn't been a shining representation of them in the NBA with relation to how many studs they bring in, I'm not comparing Duketo what SJU has put out, only that Lavin has put out quite a few and Harkless will be another. Duke players often not transitioning well to the NBA for some reason. Duke signs maybe more too high schoolers than anybody consistently, but IMHO their output of stud NBA players isn't all that great, that's all I'm saying.

I get what you are saying.. but the thing is they get players to the league. How they perform is on a player to player basis. Potential recruits look at programs who put players in the league.. and not how they perform once they get there.
 
 I don't get some of these guys though. they have a chance to come in right away as a freshman and get crazy minutes with STJ, whereas with these other teams theyre gunna have to fight for playing time. just nonsensical to me.

Almost every high school phenom has enough of an ego to believe he can be a star from Day 1 and start over any upperclassman.
 
Still think we have a decent shot. We are showing him a lot of love and Chiles was in FL watching him for a week and he new when we were playing so he is still following us closely and is probably friends with many of our players and Lavs is a great closer and closed on him once before. Maybe stays loyal and goes with his heart. We are not just StJ recruiting anymore we are StJ with head coach S Lavin and a great staff of teachers. 
 
 Believe that we still have a good chance, otherwise Coaches Lavin and Chiles would not be following him. Think that him and his family are just waiting out Coach Lavin's health situation. Games like last night can only help us.
 
Send him a tape of last nights game;show him what he can look forward to next year.

Frightening to think how good we could be next season if we add Gathers at pf and move Harkless to the sf and have DP coming off the bench. I will keep dreaming but even with one or two more recruits next season we will be good.

Yea, RedJohnnies was mistaken. Gathers quote was about UK and Duke being annual top 10 teams and producing NBA players.

His point is still a good one though. Let's hope all the work the staff did building a relationship over the past year pays off, because it's going to be hard to beat out UK if they really want Ricardo. Duke doesn't worry me as much.
 
 I said this before but Lavin cant put all his eggs in the Gathers ,Sampson basket. I hope he is looking at other Bigs and they dont have to be 4 star players. We do have a great core. UK and Duke get players to the next level because they get many 5 star recruits.

I think we still have a good shot at both. How can Sampson not want to come after watching what Harkless is doing in his role?

Gathers stills keeps in touch with Garret and Moe, and Wood and Gathers text twice a week. Gathers also says he loves Lavin.

With that said, I think the staff goes after a JUCO big man. I also wouldn't be shocked to see us land a true big man that graduated to come in and lead this team deep in the tournament.

Our core is absolutely sensational...it really is incredible. Once we start knocking off a few ranked teams and making some news, I bet we start locking up recruits.
