Revamped Big East

And their company stock price basically has dissolved for lack of a better term

"If these outrageous reports have any merit and especially if a United States Senator has done anything inappropriate or unethical to interfere with a decision that the Big 12 had already made then I believe that there should be an investigation in the U.S. Senate, and I will fight to get the truth. West Virginians and the American people deserve to know exactly what is going on and whether politics is interfering with our college sports." --West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin

And it's any wonder this country is going downhill faster than Fatty Arbuckle on an icy slope? Every blind deaf mute living in Siberia knows that college sports is nothing but politics. And frankly Senator, the "American people" deserve to have you working the real problems facing us, not getting involved with this nonsense.

Thousands of young Americans have died in Iraq and Afghanistan, Kabul sides with the sneaky Pakistanis, 3 trillion US $ wasted on our "realignment" of the Muslim world.......and these clowns are lobbying college presidents so 85 meatheads can throw a ball that isn't round in the cornfields of Iowa rather than in the smoky hills of West Virginia!
It is a wonder they even have time for mistresses!!

I never found Rick Pitino very lovable ... but I could change my mind:

Meanwhile, Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino told ESPN.com's Andy Katz that he is actively lobbying the Big East and its member schools to add Memphis and Temple, regardless of whether the Big East adds Central Florida, Houston or SMU.

Pitino said Wednesday he has expressed his opinion to Big East commissioner John Marinatto and wants the conference to seriously consider raising its basketball profile during what has been a turbulent time of conference realignment.

With regards to expansion, Pitino really gets it. Temple and Memphis not only add 2 football programs, but they are 2 excellent bball programs. I hope he can help get it done.

Marcus, You're right. What or why do you suppose there is reluctance to do this? I think the BIG EAST would gain by such a move.

Pitino is my go-to source for both conference expansion and quiet restaurants.

Wait until he finds out he won't be visiting the Big Apple a few times a year and instead will be playing most games in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa!! Rick will be as happy as Jim Boeheim for being kept in the dark in favor of the football coach!

Add Xavier, Dayton, Butler, Memphis, and Temple and the Football side can do anything they want........

Here is some interesting trivia:

What two teams have advanced beyond the sweet 16 more than Syracuse in the past 20 years?

Answer: Memphis (3 times) and Temple (4 times)

Since 1990 Syracuse has advanced beyond the Sweet 16 just TWICE!

A leading college official said Boise State and Air Force, two key pieces to the rebuilding plan, “are at the altar” with the Big East, characterizing the recent discussions as positive. The person requested anonymity because he is not authorized to discuss league matters publicly

It looks like this is all a done deal now. The remaining BE schools are stuck staying in the BE, nobody wants them.

Now the BE needs to seal the deal with the other schools it has been talking to and find a 12th football school out of Temple, Navy, Memphis.

I would be happy if the BE took all 3, going to a 14 team football conference and getting 2 good basketball programs to keep the hoops side strong.

They may have to take BYU to seal the deal with Boise, Air Force, SMU and Houston, though.
