Revamped Big East

Syracuse said if ND joined the conference in FB they wouldnt have left. Dont think there going to.

I think they are lying -- they just want to deflect some of the blame.

Cowards.

Syracuse could go rot in ACC hell for all I care. The icing on their cake will be for Jim Boeheim to retire the year they leave the BE. What is also satisfying for me is that the ACC and Cuse think they have arranged a football wedding when, in fact, Syracuse is POS bottom-feeder in FB and will remain so in the ACC.
If the Big East pursues expansion on the football side, almost every team mentioned is currently rated higher in the polls and would be upgrades in football. SMU, Houston and Temple are all rated higher! Raiding the Big 12 for football members, as some have suggested, is laughable! A weak football conference does not raid the top football conference in the country! If you count Texas A&M, this weeks top 25 includes SIX Big 12 football schools. If, by luck, the BE adds SMU and Houston in addition to TCU, the Big East will have a presence in the #1 high school football state in America. High school games in Texas regularly draw 10-12,000 on Friday nights! Villanova drew 6,000 last week!!! The service academies have a national following similar to that of Notre Dame and fit in with the Irish academically. Here is hoping that Mr. Money Bags Burton does not get the last call on expansion at Uconn and that Rutgers realizes how irrelevant they really are in football so they can focus on their BB strengths and leave the football to the new, stronger members.

Rutgers? BB strengths?

Rutgers? BB strengths?

Yes! Rutgers 2011 class was ranked 16th nationally and they have Myles Mack and Kadeem Jack in the fold---two players SJ went after. With the elimination of 3 of our best recruits (Pelle, Sampson and Garrett) Rutgers may have as good a freshman class as SJ as of October and a better nucleus from 2010. Just in case you haven't been following the latest developments. Rice is an aggressive recruiter and Lav will have to keep sharp!

BTW, with Poole and Biruta, they have two players that can score with anyone we have coming in but what will make us underdogs is their height advantage. It is nice to have 5 players 6'8! That is, of course, if Pelle and Garrett do not qualify for the Big East games.

Rutgers? BB strengths?

It may or may not happen this year, but unless Mike Rice goes into Bobby G territory, Rutgers is gonna be good. They have always had tremendous built-in advantages that they managed to make the least of. That is clearly changing and it looks like they are going to grow into a contender in the league (if they stay in the league, if there is a league, etc)

Just a quick note, we did not get Kadeem Jack because of his relationship with Hicks and NCAA rules not because he desired to attend Rutgers over SJ. But I agree w/ your overall point.

Tap me on the shoulder when they do anything of significance on the court.

That tap may be a bump this year. You are not paying attention to THIS years' class! Forget the past! This is the strongest Rutgers team in years and we have the most inexperienced team in a half century!! Of course I am hoping we get Pelle and Garrett back but their height will kill us this year! We start a thread about a 6'4 walk on and they will not play ONE walk-on this year!

NJ State basketball 2011 is NJ State football 2006. Remember when NJ State beat Louisville on espn? Greg Schiano was ready to catapult them into a prennial bcs program? How did that turn out? And Schiano was competing against a crap football conference. Rice has to compete against some of the best coaches in the country. I think Rice will either:
a. implode, his frenzied eyes can make his fellow man very nervous
b. leave for another program

NJ State's success (and they haven't played games yet) will be fleeting imo.

Oh yeah, just in case you haven't figured it out, I despise that school.

I get the impression you really really really dislike NJS! LOL! I hate them for their football and ACC aspirations! It does not say much about ACC football when Rutgers is a candidate!!!!Holy Crap>>>>>>I will take UCF over them in football and capture the central florida football market! Add TCU, Houston and SMU and the BE will be in two of the top football markets in America!!!

Wait I thought the Geoff Billet/Earl Johnson crew was going to turn things around.

No, no, it was Todd Billet/Dahntay Jones that was going to put RU back on the map.

On third thought, wasn't it the Mike Rosario/Greg Echenique class that would return the glory to Piscataway?

Whatever the case, you're right on point. The Scarlet Knights are going to tear up the Big East this year. Go C. Viv, go!

With FIVE SJ seniors last year we beat RU by 2 at home. This year they return 6 vets, three of whom played significant minutes. We return a 5'10 pg who specialized in turnovers. They will have a front line of 6'8, 6'9, 6'8 and FIFTEEN players. We may play 3 walk-ons! We play them at the RAC in their final home game this year in March. I just hope we are still not a 7 man team by then or it may not be pretty. I do not give a flying F if RU loses every game=====I just hate losing to them and this year there is a good possibility of that!

Rutgers is way ahead of us at this point because they have a full roster with some talent as well as experience. Had we gotten everybody qualified, it would have been a different story, because overall our young talent is better. We're missing some big pieces at this point.

Maybe I'm selling him short, but I think Gilvydas Biruta will only win the Wooden Award once.

Thoughts?

Syracuse is obnoxious because they are led by a a chancellor and athletic director who orchestrated this entire landslide......

I can tell you this....That bald headed POS AD from USC is NOT liked in Syracuse. Chancy Nancy cannot tell a football from a basketball and deferred to the bald POS on Cuse' move to the ACC. Syracuse will regret this move years down the road IMO!

Ru is an average team in FB. Before they entered the BE they were terrible and would play div 1a football programs like Colgate. What thanks do they give the BE for at least being respectable, they talk of bolting to the ACC.
