Recruits for next year?

who do we really lose? Orlando and gift!? I think Jones will give us at least what Gods Gift has given us on the floor this year and with De la Rosa I think we will be fine.

Don't forget his brother of FIU fame.

I was just about to say (in another thread), I saw what you did with your avatar, Paultz. I, immediately knew the player when I saw it. Heard rumblings, too, eh?

Enlighten me on what you guys are talking about...

Sounds like a package deal is brewing. But is Joey any good?

He's big. 6'11. Thats about the best thing you can say about him.

I guess redux of the brothers (actually twins) we had many years ago...Trevor and Travis (??)...can't remember last name

Trevor played for SJU. His twin brother Robert played for St. Francis I believe.

Actually we may be talking about the same guys...one of them may have transferred...My memory is going so I definitely could be wrong

That's the ticket!!! What were their names and did they both play for SJ at one time?

I wouldn't dismiss the loss of loss of Orlando and Gift so lightly. Orlando was a very important player for us coming down the stretch. He averaged something like 10 points and 8 rebounds in his last four games, when he was finally finding his niche, and he was one of the few brights spots against PC, going 4-5 from the field, muscling 12 rebounds, and helping out on fast breaks. Sanchez is a skilled player; Jones may become one, but from he showed last year, he's got a ways to go.

What concerns me more is the 2015 class. We lose Harrison, Greene, Branch, Pointer, and most likely Jordan and Sampson, and replacing them with six talented players is going to be a challenge, especially if the Big East begins to be perceived as a mid-major conference (or sold as one by opposing coaches) and if the bloom is off Lavin's rose because of another disappointing season next year.

Which is why I believe we need to be major players in the transfer game to soften the blow. Also the Big East has proved as a conference that it will still get high majors

True, but we haven't yet seen the impact that not being seen on ESPN will have on recruiting, which could weaken the BE. Seems like the most the attention the BE has been getting on ESPN this past week has been the promos hyping their "Requiem for the Big East" documentary. You keep repeating that phrase -- Requiem for the Big East -- over and over, and a lot of top-tier recruits who are listening are going to believe it.

Section3, forgetting the details of the Jackson twins' college careers shouldn't upset you. But on the other hand, if you find yourself starting to say things like "Looie what's-his-name?" or "You know, that Irish left-handed kid who could really shoot," it might time to start worrying about old age.

who was looie? :)

Hope Joey is a walk on otherwise it could be that Lavin the great recruiter is bringing in two big stiffs. Uh oh, there goes my Karma. Actually don't mind Adonis even if he is a project but a player averaging 1 and 1 at FIU sounds ominous.

Sounds like the De La Rosa family negotiated themselves a pretty sweet deal
Take Joey + get Adonis = 2 free rides for the family
Good deal for them; perhaps not so much for us

Guys like this could possibly help our front court;

@JucoRecruiting: Impressed with Igor Ibaka (6-8/F) of NE Oklahoma. Four man with a good frame. Younger brother of OKC Thunder's Serge Ibaka.

You had me at four man with good frame.

Sounds like you're describing Christian Jones
Let's hope he can be a useful rotation guy next season

Do not sell Christian Jones short. He is a physical specimen who needed to learn to rebound and play some defense. If he improves in those areas he will be a valuable player off the bench. Adonis is a very slow player right now but he could be a very different player in a year with conditioning.
