Just called and left a message. Everyone should call!!

Just my opinion but this asshole man child can easily just delete the email. Just my opinion but might be much more productive to email the their school president about what this guy did and just blow up this assholes twitter

If it's anything like our past president their president might not even have a clue what happened

Given all the NCAA rulings that have gone against us over the years, there has to be some sort of agenda against us. You don't lost cases that are this cut and dried, this often. You can call me neurotic, but there's a difference between being neurotic about them having something against us, but I've got too much history to work with, here. Even last year, they tried (by all accounts) to do everything they could to stop Heron from getting his waiver, even looking into that charity game he put together.

Personally, I believe in the geography theory. I think the NCAA will always make an example out of us, since everything that happens in NYC is high profile. So, our only recourse would be, to make sure that we recruit low risk kids. However, that's basically what Norm did for six years, and all we did was complain about how we were never any good.

I like Anderson, I hope he does great here, but with each passing year, I begin to believe more and more, that this program can not be turned around.

You may have a point Mike.

CSU's President's email (and this time I made sure it's correct!) is: President.Sands@csuohio.edu

Been an SJU fan for an awful long time and I don't recall being angrier about an arbitrary and damaging NCAA decision. If there was ever a time to throw the lawyers, the Big East and the media at the NCAA simultaneously, this is it. Dunn should not be a victim here. Can't get a much more sympathetic case than this one.
I have lots of confidence in our staff, including our AD. It would be a temporary setback only for our program, but it is a huge setback for Rasheem if not corrected. It needs to be fixed!

An even better idea--thanks to my wife(!) is email the new men's basketball coach: Dennis Gates, 8yrs an assistant to Leonard Hamilton at FSU.
Coach Gates's email is: d.r.gates@csuohio.edu
As my wife mentioned: he's the guy with the 'most skin in the game.'

We can't allow this nonsense to happen anymore. St. John's has a stronger online presence than the average Power school and we need to make sure that's known. "Online/Twitter outrage" is obnoxious in most instances, however it's effective.

I spread this to the Big East message board, and will do follow up posts tomorrow:http://holylandofhoops.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7036&sid=3816705e8c3dc9f781b23b9fad7f1dba

News articles/forum threads will soon pop up anytime people search for "Scott Garrett". He's blocking a bunch of people on Twitter, so need to make sure our voices are heard.

Will give Garrett a call tomorrow, and then afterward CSU's president/HC when Garrett doesn't pick up. Everyone needs to help in getting this story to go viral.

FWIW.....I just sent the following email to the school's president. I copied Garrett and the current coach.

----------------------------

President Sands,

I would like to confirm your knowledge of the NCAA’s decision to deny a waiver for Rasheem Dunn. It has been reported by local New York media outlets that Athletic Director Scott Garrett refused to support this student-athlete’s bid to gain immediate eligibility.

Rasheem transferred to Cleveland State to play for coach Felton, who was fired in July of this year. As you may know, this is an atypically late date to fire a basketball coach. Regardless of your thoughts on Coach Felton, Rasheem Dunn left New York for Cleveland and sat out a full year to play for him. When that opportunity was abruptly foiled, Dunn transferred back home to St. John’s University.

Today, due in large part to AD Garrett’s lack of support, we know Dunn will not be eligible to play this year AND will have to sit out ANOTHER YEAR. This is devastating to the young man who is now essentially collateral damage. In case you are unaware, in situations like this, an AD will almost always give their “blessing” to the transferring student. In addition to hurting the student-athlete, many folks are acknowledging that the selfish, vindicative stance taken by Garret is not a “good look” for Cleveland State. I would imagine student-athletes currently being recruited by your school should take note and proceed with caution.

Thank you for your time. I hope you consider the situation.

What conference is CSU in?
They must have a message board as well?
Let them feel some pain on their home turf, if possible.

Not a bad idea, though their crappy conference (Horizon League) doesn't have very active message boards. I might sign up anyways.

On Holy Land I've already gotten some responses to my thread and posters from other Big East fan bases are getting involved. Nice thing about the current Big East is other members actually care.

I despise the NCAA.

A bunch of old guys making money off of the efforts of kids.

How old was Dunn when he transferred to Cleveland State? Maybe 20 ? So put this in context; this 20 year old transferred to Cleveland State with the expectation of playing for a particular coach- he sits out as required, the Cleveland State coach he expected to play for is canned and now Dunn is seemingly going to have to sit out yet another year to be able to receive the blessing of the NCAA. Unf-ing believable.

Now someone please explain to me why these “student athletes” are being treated fairly.

ps. NCAA president Mark Emmert made $3.9 million in total compensation during the 2017 calendar year. I don’t know how much he will make in 2019 but I bet it is more than the $3.9 he made in 2017. . According to USA Today the NCAA’s federal tax return showed Emmert received a 60% increase in compensation between Sept. 1, 2017 and Aug. 31, 2018. His pay increased from $2.4 million the previous year to $3.9 million due to a $1.4 million deferred payment that was written into his contract.

Emmert's salary increase coincided with an FBI investigation into the college basketball corruption scandal. Perhaps if Mr. Emmert and the NCAA had been doing their jobs then the facts underlying the FBI investigation would not have occurred.

Other examples of old guys making boatloads of money off of the backs of “student athletes” are the P5 Commissioners: here is what the heads of the Power Five conferences are pulling down: Jim Delany of the Big Ten, $5.5 million; Larry Scott of the Pac-12, more than $5 million; John Swofford of the Atlantic Coast Conference, $3.3 million; Bob Bowlsby of the Big 12, $3.1 million; Greg Sankey of the Southeastern Conference, $2 million.

I get the Ian Steere denial. I was hoping he'd get a waiver, however I felt he probably wouldn't. However, this is a travesty for this poor kid. The school needs to go high profile with a high profile attorney. FTNCAA

There is something that does not meet the eye. No one would have had a problem with Dunn getting a waiver.

Are we missing something?

Only thing I can think of and still wouldn’t be an excuse for the NCAA, maybe Dunn filed for a waiver to gain immediate eligibility when he transferred to Cleveland state (maybe on the basis of getting out of nyc?) and they don’t want to deal with another request of his? Total speculation, but like others have said something doesn’t add up.

What a ridiculous situation. We all knew Steere was likely do get denied, however the consensus was that Dunn would be an easy case to get his. This is shocking but also not shocking considering we seem to be screwed by this stuff more than the average school. I thought AD's recommending or not recommending the waiver was only a small part of this. Apparently they now have the ability to totally screw players. With Wilson and any other player we've had in this situation, we've always taken the higher road and advocated on their behalf. Nice guys finish last I guess. Dirty programs and those who cheat finish first. LSU, Arizona, etc. etc. and all we hear is crickets. The NCAA is losing the small minority of people left who had any respect for them or figured they'd be reasonable most of the time. Glad we're appealing but we all know how this ends...he probably won't even end up playing here now after losing the appeal. After the surprising comfortable scrimmage win against a rock solid team in Temple, this shoe drops. This is the perfect microcosm of what being a St. John's fan is like...fan morale is up, positive vibes and then this. One step forward, two back. Always. I will be calling and emailing later.

Right tone JF, nice job

It looks like everyone is new at Cleveland State. The Coach, AD and President. Seems like it’s a tough job as there is little fan support(they averaged just over 1,000 fans per game last season) and very few in Cleveland care about this program. Not sure how damaging Dunn’s future helps them.

Best part is quote that ST John's is surprised by the decision. Why is ST John's always surprised when bad things happen to them? Have they not been paying attention these last 35 years? I mean I guess Wile E Coyote always seems surprised when his Acme stuff backfires on him but he is a cartoon character.
