Rasheem Dunn Waiver Denied (APPEAL WON)

It's almost as if the NCAA invented the arbitrary and capricious standard of review; just a ridiculous outcome. Wish I thought we had a chance on appeal...

I think they should just play him. Forget the NCAA altogether and any school with an ounce of decency should just ignore the NCAA. Any school that won't support this move by refusing to play St John's is showing they don't give a crap about the rights of the players/kids has sent the message that they don't either. So high school coaches and parents take note. Hey I'm being sarcastic, but not really. At some point it will have to come to this. The NCAA is a travesty. Time for America to move on. Make College Great Again.

This is out and out bullshit!!!
I disagreed with the Steere decision but can understand it
This one makes no sense at all - the kid already sat out a season and his coach got canned
I never knew that an AD had so much authority nationwide
And at Cleveland State of all places which had more than their share of "issues" in the past

Full credit to the NCAA for one thing:

They have, for one day at least, united the members of this board, in a way that I haven't seen for a long, long time!

Now, on a more serious note, who do you appeal these decisions to? If it's to the same NCAA board, that would seem like a waste of time and money. What is the general record on appeal? I think we won an appeal with Kassom Yakwe a few years back, but that was because his case was tied in with the major recruit from Kansas (I don't remember his name, unfortunately), who the NCAA needed to have on the court, for publicity purposes.

Hey-Zus Almighty, what deflating news with eyes blinking awake, and canvassing this thread to wake up to. Damn!
I had no clue an AD or new Staff could deny a kid's immediate eligibility at a new school after sitting out a year and the coach he sat a year out to play for is fired.
Unbelievable.
Apparently Isaiah Washington mentioned ailing grandparents in his departure note from MN but an article I read regarding Mo Thiam's transfer from NMS stated he had to sit out a year.
Hoping Rasheem gets a reprieve here.
And to ask a dumb question: When was the last time a kid transferring had to sit out two years?
Arrgghh!

As much as this ridiculous, mean spirited decision will mess up our season, it's just so bad for the kid. For him to have to sit out two years in a row has got to be so tough for him to deal with.

On point. Frustrated for team, but we are likely going to be bad anyway. What does this do, take us down from 13 wins to 11? Feel much worse for the kid, who doesn't appear to have done anything wrong - to have to sit out 2 straight years as a healthy player is brutal.

Media blitz in order immediately

Enjoy the good pub Cleveland state! Awesome for their new coach.

How is it that out of 353 schools, we're the ONE school to get completely screwed over by the NCAA's transfer rulings?

2019-20: Worst transfer decision (taking away our PG)
2018-19: Worst referee decision (taking away our undefeated season)

Everyone needs to keep making noise on Twitter as that's the way to get their attention. Absolutely ridiculous.

I think the combination of both waivers being denied, and the McGriff injury (nothing you can do about that, obviously), took us from 15 or 16 wins, with hope for the future, to about 8 wins, with the light at the end of the tunnel being far off.

Anderson's preferred style (which I love, BTW) is not sustainable, when you have only 9 scholarship players (10 when Steere comes back). Cole and the lacrosse player may have to see some spot minutes, in this system (I actually think Cole can play a little bit - remember the Providence game in 2018?).

The only ways to win with this group are to play Princeton-style, and limit possessions (not Anderson's MO, and we don't have the personnel for that, anyway), or hoist 50 3 pointers a night, and hope that around 20 go in. Maybe that's why Anderson has been talking up the perimeter game in recent days (and it does seem like they shot the ball well against Temple, FWIW).

Would have liked to see a little more criticism and emphasis on impact on Rakeem.[/quote]

Agree NCJ. Zach missed a chance. Let's hope Bronx Cheers and Abuse rain down on the AD and the NCAA. We shall see.

Heron calling it out

Mustapha Heron
@Kingheron5
sat out a whole year and because he wanted to goto a place that he felt was better for himself and his family he gets punished? Just think about how outlandish that sounds. yall are supposed to be in the business of helping kids not hindering them #FreeRahDunn til it’s backwards!

St. John's guard Rasheem Dunn would lose a year of eligibility if the decision is not overturned, source says. #sjubb
