Providence

I wish this were the Pros.. at least we would be putting our selves in good shape for the top Draft pick. Idk, I think maybe it is time to look in another direction. We were winning more games as freshman and sophs in a more difficult league. Who are we going to beat? I always try to look at things in a positive way but I'm at a complete loss. Obviously I'll continue to pull for coach and the team, but the regression of this team is almost unbearable to watch. My glass of koolaid is almost empty. Hope we beat Dartmouth so we have a double digit win total this year. Never in a million years would I have thought both the coaches and players would be this embarrassing. I'm hoping forthe best but I expect the worst from this point out. Go SJU.

It's only January. The next 2 are winnable. If we can split with Creighton and avenge Georgetown....Oh, never mind.

If we can somehow drop our 6,000,000 flaws, we have a shot!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Did anyone else see how Harrison left the court and didnt go to the handshake line.... that does not bode well for this team. At the end of this season we could be in for a long long long off season.
Hard for Harrison to face up to he's real a determent down the stretch. Sampson can't cut it, but he can still smile. I know the board going to keep ripping Lavin, fine. The players who are supposed to be our best help turn wins to loses. I think Lavin stays, and any players he recruits better then the guys we have. We have lost 3 games that all we needed was someone to make a play. Not a big deal play. Any kind of play that was not a giving the game away play. Coach has them in position to win, but they throw it away. I guess it's back to ripping Lavin.

Seriously. Are you Lavins wife? Mother?....Or are you a troll ?

I guess your eyesight is bad or one sided since God's Gift and Pointer followed Harrison to the locker room.

Didn't tape the game so can't go back, but there was a point late in the 2nd O.T. that Harrison looked at someone and mouthed what looked like "don't talk to me". Have no idea who he was talking to, but he was really pissed. It may have been after the Greene miss while the refs reviewed the game clock.

Coach has them in a position to win? Who the hell put Hooper in the game? Who the hell kept Jordan out? Lavin is the biggest loser as a bench coach, a complete fraud. And it hurts me to even call him coach.

for anyone to blame Harrison or Sampson here they no nothing about the game .. go out there in crunch time no one was guarding gift or pointer and they were playing 2 on 5 .. green a nice 7th man for a low mid major ..... Jordan is a high recruit and I would bet anyone he is gone after this year ..hooper is a side part player buy on offense at end it should have been Jordan dlo Sampson and gift u have to respect dlo Sampson and Jordan even if wild could get in lane... green and pointer no factor to score and not a factor on D also they want to shot but cant .. on any play dlo will be attacked cause there is no option .. to have a time out and not use it when hooper is in trouble(why was he in for Sampson instead of pointer) is crazy then call time out before providence shoots so green gets ball in hands instead of Jordan or dlo to go coast to coast is a joke ,,, we are a team with low bball iq and no offense .. we were over rated we look like good athletes but we are not ver good basketball players and recruits like Jordan should not come here because it has to be frustrating for the young man to get recruited so heavey told the ball would be in his hands then see pointer green and hooper get minutes over him .. I like hooper I like sju but If I was Jordan I would not stand for it ,,, how does the young man get better when he gets circle jerked around ever time he makes a mistake and told to sit behind low mid major talent ... I loved the lavin hire but his warts are to big to miss .. he is stubborn has a big ego and is not a very good in game coach ... we are in for another long season folks and we all know it .. we all love sju baskeball but tonight was a tough one to stomach .. I even told lil hope 1 and 2 they can not watch sju I don't need them getting bad habbits ,, 1st time I ever told them they couldn't watch a sporting event
Have you heard of a period? OMG.....at least try to write coherently.

The bad part is that Providence was begging to be put away at the end. They were like a boxer looking for a place to fall from exhaustion. Their 3 shooting was atrocious. They even missed foul shots in OT. Just a vile, heinous loss. Poor Looie, sitting in the stands with his cane, watching this kind of performance in the arena bearing his name. Surprised he still has the stomach for this. He continued the Lapchick tradition, and now this?

By far the least enjoyable team to watch that I can remember... I just can't even root for this team right now... If I went down to the park to watch some pickup ball I'd see better team play.

I'll tell you what is sad.... I actually would rather watch a starting 5 of Paris Horne, Malik Boothe, DJ Kennedy, Justin Burrell and Sean Evans than this group...

I'd take DJ Kennedy over anyone on our team right now... and I'd take Justin Burrell over any of our bigs...

How many players did the Friars use tonight? Couldn't have been more than 7. No reason that we shouldn't have ran their asses out of the gym. I put the blame on the coach and the team. They should be embarrassed with themselves.

plandome its the content not the periods you want a period .....we stink. :yell: Lavin can not coach. :yell: Jordan will transfer at the end of the year .l :yell: Do you like the periods

Not that it really means anything but if you look at the last layup basket by Providence there is hardly a touch, yet a foul was called, Ok he touched him call a foul. But when Greene went to make a layup at the end of the game he was banged and no foul was called. The commentator said - oh you dont call a foul at this point. Well my question is why the heck not? If you call a foul with 20 seconds why not 2 seconds?

I am told by a former member of a Big East staff that the StJohns "bigs" are too slow for StJohns to press all game long.

You know what? As I read all the posts I'm getting mad as hell. He shouldn't get away with the most asinine substitution - Hooper. A wasted effort by our kids, ruined by a lousy, lousy, lousy coach. The more I think about this stupid move makes me want to write something I'll regret. When I think about Jordan's lack of playing time I really fear his leaving next year. Come on guys boo this waste of a coach starting Saturday, let's here fire Lavin also.

It's like James Joyce drank a Mountain Dew / espresso cocktail and started blogging about hoops. It takes a steady eye to read but I get No Hopes drift...

Nail on head. Hooper should have not been in there at that juncture and the prize recruit was riding the pine. Such a shame.

You are 100 % correct, Greene was banged. This was similar to our Elite 8 game against Ohio State when Barkley drove and was bumped with no call to end the game.

Wow. This is just about as embarrassing as the post-Jarvis years. Our "coach" should start worrying about his job. He is an absolutely horrible coach. There isn't one aspect of the game he coaches well.

I agree but as many has said, he isn`t going anywhere. He needs to go.
If he`s back next year and he recruits for 2015 then you know he`ll coach his recruits. So in 15 and 16 everyone will says the 2015 recruits are young, but they`ll be juniors in 2017 so if they don`t win in 2017 then he might be gone before the 2018 season.
So another 4 season of this?????? Just hope he`s gone after this year.

As for the kids, this is the first game that I really feel bad for them, they really battled their hearts out. Looking at Harrison with the PC guy shooting FTs at the end. It really looked like Harrison was fighting to hold back the tears.
But it`s a bitch to win a game without a coach. My heart really goes out to them.

They thought Lavin was gonna be a good coach and put them in a better position to win these type of games and seeing Sampson and obekpa and everyone else, are these kids really better then they were last year?

Under a good coach they`d have improved somewhat from last year.
