@Providence, Sat., Jan. 6, 12 Noon, FS-1

Neither of them particularly trust worthy. I thought posh played a great first 10 minutes. Don’t remember any solid plays late, do remember a forced drive/spin and TO off a bad pass to King. Curbelo had a hand full of mistakes as well but he’s a better threat to get to the rim in a half court game.
So is Wusu. But it doesn't matter if you get to the rim if you don't score the ball or you create a turnover.

True. Tho Curbelo has had his fair share of success finishing at the rim this year. Posh it’s been a nightmare mostly. Wusu who you mentioned is shooting close to 60% on 2 pt shots.

Curbelo did have a good game stat wise w 12 points and 4 assists. What drives me nuts is at crucial times he does amateur stuff like leaving his feet and losing ball as a result and taking wild layups. That said, you are right he had relatively decent game
Curbelo reminds me of watching Dunn play. Dunn did a lot of good things on the court and he also did a lot of bad things. You gotta take the bad with the good when it comes to Curbelo, just as I did with Dunn..

Cringe worthy

The real question here is, who does Anderson think he’s kidding? Each year prior to this one we heard how the team would be ready by sometime in February. And each year they failed to make the Dance. But this year thst was not supposed to happen. I can’t imagine the players are buying into this. Even if they finish 9-4 (which would be borderline miraculous), they still won’t go Dancin.

Dunn was a better outside shooter. I would take Dunn over Curbelo.

I’m so ready to just move on from Anderson!

I get your frustration, but what do you expect him to say? He can't be brutally honest in public. It's "coach speak." I just hope he's reading some guys the riot act in private.

Today’s performance and effort level was more like the our good games in CMA years 1 - 3. Committed to defense for most part with some lapses and took mostly good shots with some lapses (Already noted by others). When we do these 2 things, we can and should be in a position to beat Providence.

Ordinarily, a close, road loss like this would not be as frustrating. But given the huge hole we have dug (once again), it was a critical loss of winnable game that would have put us in a position to get to 3-4 on Tuesday. May still have meant nothing even if it played out like that - but there would have been hope (albeit faint).

Soriano - continues his growth. . .he is adding a mean streak which shows he cares and is the obvious vocal leader.
Pinzon - rushed a few but is not afraid. Needs game reps to settle in.
Storr - made some good early drives that didn’t go down and seemed to be be more committed on defense.
Posh - looked more like the old Posh

Agree that CMA coached a good game and pulled guys that deserved to be pulled. However, I thought he went too long with Nywie in the 1st half when they went on their run. I like Nywie but he doesn’t finish contested drives whereas Stanley can.
Great post

We have up over 80 points and allowed them to shoot greater than 50% from the field and 40% from 3.

Good defense? Do we remember a bad shot taken by providence? Teams get the shots they want against us. Over and over again.

We continue to prove we evolved into a very good mid-major program. Year after year we fatten up our record on a buffet of mid major programs and then show our weaknesses in trying to keep up with our B.E. peers. I would rather improve our performance against good programs and be 6-5 in the OOC games. And go .500 in the B.E. rather than spit the bit week after week. Coach wants to be over .500 period. Thats his goal. Fine. Do it somewhere else we need a coach to teach, lead and improve play. We are stagnant.

Which is what makes zero sense. In every business you work with your strengths and build on the rest. We should be a much better team.
We start with Posh who for the first two years was a huge overachiever, the most pleasant of surprises. A bulldog of a point guard who scored in double figures. We returned a 6 11 Center who has achieved beyond anyone’s expectations and possibly can be all conference. We returned a nice bench of Dylan, who can be an excellent player as he has shown the past two games, Stanley and Pinzon who each had a year under their belt and have shown they can play and add value at this level. Nywie who can be a defender in limited minutes and hit the occasional three.
We added a nice recruit in AJ, and two talented transfers.
There was zero reason to screw with the existing chemistry, build on your Nice returning core and figure out best how to add Jones, Curbelo and AJ to the mix. Jones was always slated to start but he needs to understand his role, something he does not understand to date. he does not need to be the hero for us to be successful but rather a productive piece of the puzzle which he is more than capable of being. Unfortunately both he and Curbelo too often try to play the hero as opposed to going for the simple play which is all we really need. They hurt the team and themselves. I fail to comprehend why some 8 months later they still do not understand their roles. Sorry to say but that is on the coach.

What’s be supposed to say? We stink, I’ve done a horrible job and the season’s over?

I agree. But then original post said if he had been brought along quicker.

On a decent team, Storr would be playing less. I don’t care how quickly he was brought along, the kid is a raw freshman. Frankly, I’m not sure he’ll ever be a go to guy, but under no circumstances would it have been this year. I like the kid fine, but I don’t get the love fest

Sorry Boo but I disagree with you. On a decent team Storr would have gotten minutes in the easy games prior to conference play to acclamâte him to the game. He would have been given the opportunity to make his mistakes against the weak competition. Unfortunately, we did not blow out teams in the preseason and therefore he didn’t get the opportunity to learn and grow against the lesser competition.
Right now we don’t know if he ever will be that go to guy because he wasn’t given the proper opportunity.
